My access cab seats are long gone. My passenger seat is filled with one of these: http://www.autoanything.com/driving-accessories/74A1349A0A0.aspx

If you want a ride with me, you will need a reservation! If Toyota made a uni-cab, I would probably buy one.

My friends have money so I don’t worry about them not having a ride or having to get stuck in the back seats in my AC. If I was a young kid this might be different but at 45 we all have own vehicles. The autistic kid (40+ years old) from down the street needed a ride from the bar last week on wing night and he fit in the rear seat just fine and it was better than walking.

I have yet to see any marketing material claiming the AC is designed for 4 adults. Maybe it is out there or maybe it isn’t. I tried the back seats before buying this truck just to know. I am 5’8” and it is possible. Sure my 6’2” 81 year old father is not going to be in the back but then again I am smart enough to realize that just because a vehicle has a seat doesn’t mean everyone will fit or it will be comfortable. Look at some sports cars. They have what they call rear seats but I don’t even think pocket dogs would fit.

My daughter was 2 when I bought the truck and everyone told me I needed a DC. With a full sized car seat it is a tight go. But I figured at that age I am not going to bring my daughter to every outing I do. We have my wife’s car for that. Now at three we are getting closer to a booster seat and potty training is successful so the chances for me to go out and about and bringing her on adventures are going up. With a booster we will have plenty of room until she is 10 or so which means the truck will be 8, paid off and possibly ready for replacement. She might be in the front by then unless mom comes with us. So do I buy a truck I don’t want because it allows me to move more people more comfortably for the 3-4 times it MIGHT be a requirement? With that thought process I should have bought another 2500 with Cummins for the rare times I tow more than 3500lbs because it is more comfortable to do it with the big truck.

It seems like the DC guys need to piss all over the shoes of the guys who decided the AC is the best for themselves. The DC is not for me which doesn’t mean it is a bad choice for those who buy it. The argument that the rear seats barely fit anyone over X size is just as relevant as someone saying you can’t tow 18,000lbs with your Tacoma. If you don’t need that or intend to do that then why does it matter? For the record my BMW Z3 has worse rear seats and worse towing capacity than my Tacoma. (Zero capacity on both counts). So I might as well sell it OR admit that is never its intended function so it is irrelevant.

I would not own a truck with less than a 6 foot bed. The next step for me would be a 4-Runner

I started out looking for an access cab but I found my regular cab before I found one and it was a good buy so I got it. My regular cab holds adults comfortable and 3 if they are too big. It's had 3 in it one time when I rescued idiots who ran out of gas in the mountains. Why should I buy something I'll almost never use?
The regular cab is shorter so it's easier to turn around when the road is blocked and fits in my parking space. I have a canopy so while the "back seat" would be nice for storing things the canopy works. I must have a 6' bed to sleep in and a manual transmission so a double cab is not an option.
    I'm happy with my truck.

The biggest perk with the Access Cab is an excuse to never be the one driving everyone around... Screw that shit

Alas no, there are no 3rd generation regular cabs. They were too good so they were discontinued. :(
Mine is a priceless unicorn now :)
