I've found a 2010 Tacoma 4x4 SR5 with 93k miles at a nearby dealer. I'm interested in purchasing it, but I'm concerned about over-paying for it. I'm not afraid to pay a fair price, just don't want to be "had" by a salesman. The truck looks like it's in great shape. Minimal rust on the exhaust underneath, 1 owner, no accidents.

NADA lists it at $21k, but KBB comes up with $18.9k as a dealer's asking price and $17.5k for Fair Purchase price, and Edmund's lists it as $18.4k from a dealer.

The dealer is asking $20k for it. Based on the above blue book values, I offered $18k, then $18.5k when they came down to $19.4k. They don't seem willing to come down below their $19.4k offer.

That's significantly higher than any of the values on KBB and Edmund's... Are those values way out of whack, or is this dealer trying to make off with $500-$1900 more than I should be expecting?

I love the truck, but $19.4k is hard to swallow based on those valuations. Bad deal? Fair deal? Or maybe even good deal?

Apologies if there's a better forum for this type of question. I looked, but didn't see anything that fit within the rules for other forums.

Not sure about others' experiences with buying used taco's but three years ago I picked up my 05 sr5 4x4 with 55k miles on it for just under $22k. I talked them down from $26k. At the time, kbb was coming out to $22.5k. If I were in your boots I would tell them $19k and seal the deal. I mean after all a 5 year old taco with under 100k miles has a lot of life left.

@Dusty taco , thanks for the advice! Assuming it was well taken care of previously, and I continue to do the same, is there any estimate for how long I might be able to expect this to last? I'm from Upper Michigan, so it'll unfortunately be exposed to a lot of snow, water, salt, and sand during the winter months.
