yah i thought about it but one more thing to worry about in CA so it will go back on. Already have the drivers side off. that was really easy. I forgot about the one bolt on the bottom and was like WTF why wont this cover come off.

    now for the workout...

My timing seems to be slightly off. Crank it dead center at zero. I put my stock pulley back on to make sure. but the cam and secondaries are slightly off. I’ve turned it a few times but always is slightly off compared to the URD specs. Def no orange link but not a big deal.

what should I do at this point? Line up the secondary and exhaust?

If I remember right I read somewhere that some of the trucks came mistimed right from the factory...

I can't remember how I lined mine up but the orange links literally mean nothing.

Sharpie/ white out/ blue paint the links properly as needed, don't be surprised when putting back on the new cam gears if you have to move back one of the cams a little bit left in order for the sprocket to enter into it's mating location.

yah URDs sheet says they may be off from the factory then to read the manual to reset it. That I do not have. Its about one tooth off if I line up the secondary and exhaust cam its just to the right of the crank 0.

If that was my truck, I would put everything back exactly how I took them off. I needed to turn my crank over several times to get the marks lined up.

I was about to send you the link to the FSM from customtacos but it got taken down:mad:
Anybody else have a working link??

edit: look for videos of people replacing the timing chain on one of these motors. They’ll have to time it for sure, maybe that will help

Talked with Kel and swapped them out.

    Luckily I remembered I DL’d the FSM torque guide/manual helped a bit.

Indeed! Focus on the secondary as the crank is slightly off it seems on a bunch of trucks. so swapped out and back in. Getting closer.

The crank can’t be off because everything else gets timed off it. Getting the timing right (if it wasn’t from the factory) should be the first course of action as it will have a bigger impact than these gears

I’ve finally logged some miles. I also installed an 18mm intake manifold spacer and cleaned everything up until the valves at the same time. Truck definitely feels peppier and pulls harder. No comment on MPG yet. Worthy upgrade for sure already tho

I've read every single post in this thread. It looks like you have to hold the exhaust cam with a 24mm wrench while simultaneously trying to break the cam bolt free?

Interested in buying. Just want to know what I'm in for.

That's correct. You need to counter tension the cam when loosening the bolt or damage can occur.
For what it is worth. I'm thinking of doing a pandemic group buy if 5 or more people are interested I'll knock the price down
