    No, its a 17mm open end wrench on the bolt that holds the gear, and a 24mm (I believe its 24... don't remember) on the actual cam. The cam has a spot in it that is made for an open end wrench. Then you have to input equal and opposing force on the actual cam while you try and get the gear bolt off. I had help holding the cam, and had to double up my wrenches to make a cheater bar of sorts. Maximum effort!

    In order to get the bolt to proper torque when you are installing, you need a 17mm crows foot. Like @mightytacoman said, not enough room to get a socket on it.

    So I drove from Houston to San Antonio yesterday about 250ish miles no mpg gain or loss to be reportable from that. Driving conditions where 102 going 75+ with the ac on. Response was better than stock as well as coolant temps where a bit more controllable (peak of 190w vs 194w/o) vs the stock gears. I'll try out some more reportable and repeatable testing. I am a very sprited driver so that'll be the difficulty. Overall in the brieft time I am pleased with the gears. Would do it again.

    I'm thinking my next mods for the X will be NST pullies and these gears. Doesn't one of the NST pullies cause something to leak and you have to modify something else? I can't remember sold my old X years ago

    What did you use to paint the covers? It looks slightly textured.

    I installed my new cam gears on Saturday afternoon - not too bad of a job aside from feeling like I was going to surely break something (on the truck or myself) while reefing on those cam gear bolts.

    Was glad I stuffed the timing cover with paper towels when my crow's foot wrench broke and would have dropped bits into the depths of the motor otherwise.

    Only a few short drives so far, but feels a little more responsive all around. Will flog it and get a few tanks through then report back.

    I've got a basic NA tune from @JustDSM - is it worth making some changes to the tune to take advantage these right off the bat?
