SOLD Custom Turn Signal/Puddle Light Heated Mirrors

These mirrors are direct bolt on for 96-04 Tacomas. I built these from OEM 4Runner internals and bases, with Revier turn signal housings from Japan.

The housing is chrome and the bases are textured black.

They have the stock 3 wire connector, and are plug and play with your existing power mirror circuit.

They have 3 other leads as follows:
R/B/BL = Turn/Ground/Running Light
W/B = Puddle/Ground Light
P/GR or BR/GR = Heater/Ground

They come with enough wire to run from the mirror to inside of the cab. After that you must tap into existing circuits or run new ones for the heater, etc.

I built these as a test to see how complicated it would be. Eventually I will probably make more when I have time.

I believe that you have to use 4Runner mirrors. I never had an OEM set of 01-04 Tacoma mirrors, but the 4runner ones are slightly different then the aftermarket ones that I had. They have an extra screw to mount the internals to the case from the outside, and the base also has a tab that needs to be trimmed off to mate with the door.

Also, be careful taking the base screws out when separating the case. They tend to corrode and have loctite on them. I highly suggest heating them with something before trying with an impact driver. They are very easy to strip.

 

I dealt wit all that before when I had mine apart.. Allen heads in them now.

 

Any chance these would fit on a 3rd gen runner?

 

They will, but I changed the wiring so it wouldn’t be plug n play. I also trimmed off the “retaining screw” since it doesn’t work on Tacoma’s.

 

Any chance you could build one for a 3rd gen 4 runner that’s plug and play? Pm inbound

I'd still like to build my own, but I was wondering if you could tell me where you sourced your marker lights? I tried a couple searches using your "Revier turn signal housing" and found overseas websites, but couldn't find the same lights that you used. Thanks!

Still have these, lots of interested but no one committed yet. Make me a reasonable offer and I might just take it.

 

Is it easy to replace the side and puddle bulbs if they fail?

 

To do that you have to remove the mirror housing. First you pop the mirror off and disconnect the heater wiring.
Then remove 4 screws holding the mirror motor to the housing plus one screw on the outside.
Then remove 3 screws that mount the motor to the base.

After that both lights can be removed, the puddle lights just snap in. The signal lights are held in with 3 screws.

The problem is then you need to get those lights from Japan, and you'd most likely need to get all new housing in order to get them.


I doubt the LEDs will die anytime soon though. If you don't wire up the running light, then these really aren't on that frequently.

 

Do you have options, to make them work without factory power mirrors?

They are the powered mirror version, but you could simply just push on the glass to aim them if you wanted. Wiring in the lights is up to the user since you'd need to decide where to tap in (and it may be different for different years). For example, if you have 95.5-00 you can wire the puddle lights into the door courtesy light so they come on when you open the door. That circuit is always hot and uses a switched ground, so you can't just tap into a 12v+ line, you have to wire both hot and ground to that circuit.

I chose not to wire the running lights on mine since I didn't feel like having them on all the time, but there is a wire to tap into in the driver kick panel where I tapped into the turn signal.
