I was using the 60% figure from other sites, but again I thought it was low. 60% was the highest and jeep wrangler was second. But either way 1500 sounds about right. Doing the math on 1000 doesn't quite come out right, but who cares.. it's number 1 in resale value so you can't go wrong. I would say the condition and mileage do come into play though not nearly as much as other vehicles. The % figures they quoted looked closer to trade in values to me.

I have a quote from my sales manager that I was dealing with last November for a 2015 TRDSB OR, Premium Audio (Nav), Tow Package, all weather mats, door sill protectors, etc. at $31,975 (before taxes, fees, etc). I am still in contact with him and we are discussing the 2016's. I hope that I can get basically the same configuration (with the added new items) for about +3K (give or take). He did say that if I don't like the 2016 (vehicle or price), we can go back to the 2015, if still available.

Thats a good deal, if you arent set on the 2016 and the higher price Id get the 2015 as I almost guarantee it wont be there by the time your possible 2016 shows up.

It is a very good deal for sure. I have to wait on details with the '16 or I'll be kicking myself later...

No one will sell you a 16 O/R for 32k until the 17s come out next year

Exactly... I just have not decided yet what the "too much" price is.

I have not been the first to say this, but the new Tacoma looks real good from some angles. Looks real weird from others. Partly because, I am guessing, it is a truck sandwich. The buns were redesigned but the meat looks the same.

FYI (I posted this on a thread that has since been deleted) - I'm in the same spot and here's what I've gathered for a DCSB TRD O/R, with JBL:

    MSRP w/ dest.
    2015: $32,310
    2016: $36,385

Assuming you can get the '15 around invoice, or $29,888 (I really think you can get close to that on the 15s), and the '16 at MSRP, there's about a $6400 delta. GIVEN, this is all assuming the leaked pricing is remotely accurate. BUT, you can count on 1) the 16s being more expensive, and 2) there being no more of the specific 15 you're looking for by the time the 16s come out. So, it's all a gamble. Good thing is the risk of this gamble is very low given it's a Toyota.

Just got an email from the internet manager stating that if I want to come in this weekend, we can discuss what he knows about the '16's and review the '15's as well. He mentioned that they have a large inventory of '15's on the lot and they are "priced very aggressively". Now I have to wonder if my resolve is strong enough to go in and not hand over my money if I get a crazy price on a '15. I was already $2.4k below MSRP when talking with him earlier.

My wife just asked if the difference in technology upgrades will be worth the extra $$$? All I can do is shrug since this is my first truck and I'm not sure if I will miss not having something I never had to begin with...

To be honest do you really need crawl control, blind spot monitoring, or a moonroof, sometimes simpler is better. I would grab the 15 if you get a good deal.

You should never pay MSRP for a car. You can ALWAYS negotiate down.

I will have to do some serious research once the car is released. I will be looking for what the lowest prices people are paying in my area and from what dealer to generate my offer. That way I know walking in someplace what deal I deserve and I'll walk away if I don't get it.

    Knowledge is power.

I would be nice to start a "What I paid for my 2016" thread once the truck comes out so guys can share their wheeling and dealing experiences. Just not sure if the average guy would want to contribute to that forum.

For what my wife and I want to do with it, not so much. We plan on camping trips, heading up the mountains, towing a pop-up trailer, mountain bikes in the back, beagle taking the back seat, etc. No major off-roading, just trails. My wife did say the heated seats would be nice, but that can be done aftermarket. So, I guess if the good deal comes, I may jump on it.

I'll admit I love the new off road features, would I ever really use them, likely no. From a financial stand point keeping my proven 2015 is smarter. Just like buying a 2015 at a crazy deal, I guarantee some people will end up getting new ones for less than used and given the resale value wont deal with much negative equity later down the road. Whereas even getting a small discount on a 2016 it still is a higher price and more financed, etc. But the new truck is a nice shiny Malibu Stacy even I would want.

Another option, if you get a crazy price, get the 15 then trade when you find the 16 you like

Malibu Stacy... oh Smithers! But seriously... That is what my wife and I discussed yesterday. If I can get a '15 and save some serious $$$, then that can go towards any aftermarket items or non-truck items (camping gear, new bikes, etc), or even both if the savings are significant enough. We listed out the niceties that the '16 is adding and they really were all "niceties". The added HP (for mountain areas) and MPG (rumored) would be a bonus, but I don't pinch my pennies that hard.

One of my friends has a 2nd Gen that he has taken all over the areas that I would go and said he has never had any issues... so it appears that it is good enough for my needs.

Another option my boy brought up as my wife and I were talking... "When I graduate from college in four years, you could give it to me and get a new truck." All I could do was smile and say "well done boy, well done".
