He said he has a guy driving from 4 hours away to buy it for 4100, that's around the price I was gonna offer but it seems like all who I asked said it wasn't worth it , especially my mechanic brother who said it was a peice of shit, idk. It's too late now unless he lied and was hoping I'd bite

He's probably right, he usually is , this was my first time buying a truck so I guess I was just blinded by what I thought I saw in it

Good on you for recognizing this. He's not emotionally invested in this (it's going to be your first truck, so of course you're anxious/excited, etc), so he'll be able to look at it with a more rational perspective. Just keep trusting his take on it, as long he really is a decent mechanic. Not many people have the luxury of a mechanic brother, be thankful :D

    ...we'll get there.
There's another truck out there. Don't approach any opportunity as the "perfect" truck. Each one will have a real value to you. Don't over pay unless you're retired and have money coming out your butt (thats the only safe time to overpay for things)

Other trucks will come along that are a comfortable price, or can be built up to what you want and are priced appropriately. Life is finding compromises. Sometimes that's spending more time looking, or doing more grunt work, or cutting back on other expenses to get what you want. Usually it's at least 2 of those things.

You'll get your truck, and the search will become part of the fun you look back on. You'll have "earned" it.
