I've never really had a problem with the salesperson themselves (The young lady I bought my Taco from was a sweetheart..)
It's the asshole that tries to strong-arm you into buying a dozen different 'extended warranties' that I'd love to take to the train station..

Very true... I'm north of Spokane and when I bought my truck I had to go to a dealer in Kalispel MT. that was not only willing to get me exactly what I wanted, and sold it at the advertised price with no monkey-business attached.

In the past seven years, the new car market has changed a lot. Email is an excellent tool. That’s how I bought my last three Toyotas.

During the pandemic, email and internet was the way to do business. It became the prime way to find and negotiate a deal. Phone and face to face became unnecessary, especially when everything is MSRP or higher.

Email puts everything in black and white.

I was never successful with emailing for quotes either, if I got a response at all it was merely them requesting I come in or call.

Since I’ve been out I still buy quite a few vehicles (one every 6-12 months) and that’s my experience if I try email first. I usually call then ask them to text me to follow up so I have proof of any pricing.

inventory constraints make it a sellers market so a lazy salesperson is going to go for low hanging fruit. They probably have a list of customers looking for a vehicle so Joe Smith with a fake phone number and a template email asking for your “best price” (hint: there’s no such thing as best price) is going in the trash can.

It was hilarious getting emails/calls from sales reps months after I got my truck (three months after making a deposit to boot). No, I'm not still in the market bud, I emailed you a spec sheet with exactly what I wanted months ago, and you had a couple weeks to find one for me. You snooze, and you lose.
