My 2018 SR 4x4, four door, which I bought for 29.9k, just sold at the dealer for 37,991. 35k miles. I traded it in on a cheaper truck and it wasn't on the showroom floor for a week before it sold.

Truly nuts. I traded it in on a 2011 so I could have a cheaper simpler truck I could pay off in 12 months. If any of you are wanting to get out of your truck and into better financial shape, buddy now is the time.

That is nuts. If someone needs a car, I get it and I feel bad. But man, if someone is buying one of these cars because interest rates are low. They really aren't that smart.

I agree, crazy market right now with new car shortages. I just traded in my 2014 FJC with 118K miles on it for 28.5K. I was able to find a reasonably priced 2019 4x4 Taco OR with only 11K miles on it.

I assume that the 2011 cost you less. So are you saying that you left the dealer in a 2011 Tacoma with a check for the difference in your hand, and if I may ask, how much of a check?

Irony....about to trade in my 2010 with 120k on it for a 2021. Getting $17k for the 2010 Sport, paying $41k (MSRP) for the ‘21 Off Road.

FWIW, the 2010 is solid and well maintained. Only reason I’m trading it in is my 12 year frame replacement warranty is up in August.

Toyota could be giving away free trucks this time next year!

    Not that I believe that.

So should go from $60k to low $30k-s

This is going to end badly for a lot of people. I was talking with a coworker the other day he has given up trying to buy a house, people have gone off the rocker paying top dollar for dumps

I have read countless posts on TW about frames rusting out. Can anyone opine as to what those of us with a 2021 are facing? I do not know what may have been altered in the manufacturing process since this problem appeared. Full disclosure: I live in Arizona, where frame rust should not be an issue, but I would like to know so that I can take precautions just the same. At this point, I have done nothing preventative on my 2021 TRD OR.

aint that the truth, i've heard people are competing against $50-100K cash ontop of asking price for a house and they have to forgoe a home inspection to stay in the race. This is the idiot civiliization that has reared its head nowadays.....pathetic

Arizona? Unless you want to keep it more than 15-20 years, I’m guessing you’re probably okay.

Texas Toyotas rarely see serious rust issues either.

But I defer to those with more rust experience than my lack of rust experience.

The paint on the 21's frame looks nicer. I don't know if that adds any added protection to the frame, or if it's just shinier paint.

Nothing will get the cancerous nasty rust in AZ.. all that shit is caused from road salt on the pavement during winter or crazy humid ocean air like Hawaii. I live outside Olympia it’s fuckin wet here 10 mo out of the year and it takes years of neglect to get the rust like that here.. no salt on the roads here on the west side..

House prices are nuts. I paid $250 for mine 3.5 years ago and it's valued at $393 today. (Phoenix area)
Neighbor listed his ( same sq footage ) for $400k, he got 45 offers over a weekend and sold it for $445.

If I had any sense I'd sell, go rent a sugar-shack and try to scoop up something for cash on the rebound.
Or sell, leave the area and pay cash for something in another state. I'm retired so nothing is keeping me here.

If prices tank like they did in 2007-2008-2009... it could work out, but I don't think they will.
The homes have actual 'value' and are not artificially inflated and they actually exist.

As far as my 3 month old 2021 Taco goes, I'm getting a better return than the stock market LOL...
Damn thing has gone up about $500 a week since I bought it.
