If new car prices start to fall it will be the higher end vehicles that get the discounts.

If new car prices drop 20% trade in values will drop even more.

The time to get a discount on a new vehicle was in 2020 or if you bought a 2019 its probably still worth sticker price.

My prediction is the 2024 Taco will be in huge demand as its new, then 2023 will maintain great resale value, as it very reliable and decent mpg.

For 2024 maybe 5% off new Tacos that already have 1k worth of add ons. I was waiting also but if you have a decent trade in there is no point in waiting.

But if you are retired and driving 20 year old vehicle might save an extra 1k waiting a year. But even a 20 year old Taco now might fetch an extra 2k now on a trade in so IMO no point in waiting for something to break and getting nothing for the trade in.

In past 4 days MSRP went up about $450 on the Sport base price on Toyota website. Glad I put deposit down when I did and locked in on price.

Most of us are so reliant on vehicles for transportation. In our area bike lanes and public transportation isn't connected and one turn over a brigde is just too dangerous. Then my neighbors who say they hate the beautiful public park on the harbor, because cars drive down their road to get to it, only drive a car and also hate bike lanes and such.

So for 2-3 weeks I'm using this time to reassess. In many ways driving is stressful, dangerous, and brings out the worst in most people.

Is that going to change? No. In my case tax payers were duped into voting for tax increase for improvements but what's the point if it's not functional?

But most people are so reliant on vehicles that when they break, and they will, they have no choice but to get one then, as they need to go to the grocery store, work, etc, so car prices will continue to be driving inflation.

In part that's why we buy Toyotas because they are more reliable, lower cost, and trucks can cary bikes, go camping etc, but all your food comes in on a truck, and vast majority need a vehicle for all the basics where even going for 2 weeks without one is a major disruption.

Bikes are only make for feasible transportation in a small amount cases, even when bike lanes and public trans are available to make the connection. Here in America we have roads highways and interstates to connect people and commerce by motor vehicle. Right now it's kind of hot out to be biking to work for the people who can and enjoy biking as a mode of transport. Yesterday day on major network news. The headline was hundreds of millions of Americans were boiling in the heat. I can assure you that was a false statement. There are no Americans boiling in 200°+ water. The things prople say.

I didn't say anything about highways. I'm without a vehicle for 2-3 weeks and need to get around locally. There are other options for highway transportation. People who live in cities can get by without cars. People fly and stay at Airbnbs for vaction. I also didn't mention Uber. I can get around with that just fine.

My point was that prices aren't coming down because of the era, and we agree on that. That's why I said your food likely comes in on a truck, hence the highway aspect of it. We are in era of automobiles for many decades.

I think more people would use bikes if given a choice. It just happens. It just needs to be safe.

I was saying in my area, we got duped into voting for a sales tax increase and part of it was improving some roads but that was just to get more voters on board and they added some bike lanes but they don't connect and have areas that are too dangerous to make the useful, safe or practical. It's like everything else and just poor planning.

But the reliance of vehicles for everything means the prices will remain high. People are so opinionated it doesn't matter. I make smart decisions and realistic. Although sometimes bike advocates can have some terrible ideas and some of our recreation areas are too dangerous because people are incompetent. that's the problem and they think everyone else is stupid. Life moves on. No biggie. I can drive any vehicle I want and I'm the one who chose where I live.

The price corrections have been happening in the America car market for almost 2 months (that's the first time I saw something other than flat pricing, and flat turned down). Now Ford makes a major correction. Our local Ram dealer lot is in overflow, with a sign out front that says "Up to $24,000 off" Longhorn 3500 or Limited. The Longhorn comes in just shy of $90k. Not counting taxes you could walk out with a loaded Longhorn for $64k which is what I paid for my now returned Bighorn 1500 in 2020.

If Toyota does as many here have suggested, and either hold their pricing, or even increase it, that is going to financially drive folks to greatly discounted options. I understand enough about economics to know that it will be Toyota lots that will fill up if they hold or increase pricing.

The lightning is a horrible truck, and I'm guessing we'll see the other $10k fall as well.
While the lightning might not be the only Canary, it is certainly one of the birds in the mine.

Funny how Ford drops the Lightning price a few days after the first Cybertruck comes off the production line.

Now if Ford did $10k off the Raptor I might jump on that. It would be a terrible financial decision, but Raptor. Super Duty makes much more sense in the face of Lightning pricing, probably could get a nice diesel for the price of the Lightning.

And the weather next week is calling for snow in Phoenix, AZ and sub-zero temperatures in Death Valley, CA. Toyota hasn't come out with prices for 2024 Tacoma yet TDRDude has "locked in his price". LMAO and ROFL. Literally where do they find these clowns? If you're going to post something that is completely false please put on your BOZO makeup and start juggling before you post again TDRDude.

Boy we are all now waiting for your second act, before (bogus) MSRP jumps another $450. Boy - send in those clowns.

It was four years after the bulletproof Tesla window fiasco before Tesla produced their first potatoe wedge. I'm guessing Ford is not panicking because of this one truck.

Ford is panicking because there inventory is backing up. All EV makers will soon be hurting - big time.

I drove by the Ford dealership today and they are also starting to back up the lot. We've been here 2 years and the most we've seen is probably around 50 vehicles, but now it's like 80-90 (close estimate).
