Pricing thoughts

Getting the '17 Limited MGM ready to sell. I followed the manual since new 100% for dealership service, (except for 5k oil changes) stock except for Husky mats, ARE topper, Cali Raised cat shields. 90K miles.
Thoughts for pricing in the Charlotte, NC area are appreciated. I'm thinking $30K

 

Ignore the things you added. Check prices at KBB, Edmunds, and NADA to get a ballpark figure for your area. Set your price, if it doesn't sell within some length of time you establish, lower the price.

 

Reach for the moon and you'll get crackpot offers, scammers and snarky responses but few interested buyers. Price it lower than comparable units and you'll suffer sellers' remorse long after the sale. Stay within or just above like sales for your region of the country and you've got the best shot at and rationale for negotiations possible. It boils down to just how patient you are and willing to wait for the right buyer. With the limited description you've provided $30k is a bit on the high side but then I only spent ten minutes trying to find a comparable in North Carolina.

 

don't know your area but as a private party sale $30K sounds reasonable to me given the maintenance records, ARE topper, and assuming a 4x4 (and not 4x2), the body is straight, the interior clean non-smoker, and the tires are in good condition.

 

That’s about what I paid for my 2017 Limited. With94k on it. Dealer had it listed at 29 talked them down to 27

 

Id say it's on the high side, but it largely depends on condition and presentation of the vehicle. Ive done exceptionally well on the last 4 vehicles I've sold, but I spend time throughly detailing the inside and polishing the paint. I also keep Maintenance records. Additionally great photos make a huge difference, like selling a house. If you want top dollar, I'd say spend a couple hundred dollars on a professional detail if you aren't equipped to do it yourself.

 

CarMax is paying stupid money for 3G Tacomas. Honestly they will probably buy it for what you want without having to deal with selling privately.

 

The very best price for anything is when the seller AND buyer walk away happy !

 

You may find you get more (much more) for the topper if sold separately. As mentioned, use online resources for listings in you area,,,, everyone's is different.

 

Good feedback! Thanks for your thoughts. "Forget the stuff you added" is probably the most realistic approach someone mentioned. I would ignore most aftermarket stuff if I were looking.
I guess because it is a stock vehicle with service records and based upon the threads I see on here about problems others experience with modded trucks, I'm hoping that I have a sought after Tacoma with everything a Limited has to offer.

I think you'll get your asking price if you advertise properly and provide the maintenance records for it. Even if they are just receipts for the maintenance parts you did yourself. That shows you cared for the truck, which means a lot! The no mods make it more desirable than a modded truck. I wouldn't even consider buying a modded truck.

 

Id also suggest removing mods that are feasible to remove. You can get more money selling them here, and then you're selling a more stock vehicle

 

I personally think $30K for a truck with 90K miles is high. Truck with take a hit when it reaches 100K miles in value. Plus it is an early third gen that is now seven years old. Wear items are going to need attention soon. I think 25-26K.
