I have a new set of awning brackets but they won’t fit and the company hasn’t gotten back to me on fulfilling my warranty or responding to my issue.

What do you guys recommend I do to fix this so I can get it to actually fit?

In the first pic, move it slightly to the left then use a washer large enough to grab hold of it. Problem fixed. Unless you can’t, then return is the only option

Washer? But the bolt won’t go right into the recessed location where it sits right up against the bracket similar to the right bolt that actually does fit.

The first picture shows a better representation why. You can see the bracket takes up half of the rail that the bolt is supposed to slide into. The bracket sits too high.

Can you zoom out. Want to see what prevents the bracket from dropping down lower.

You could use a washer like @bulalo suggested. Could shave some off of the bracket too. Do the bolts not slide? What if you got t‐slot hardware like the bed rails use and use it in the rack if the current hardware cant slide over into the slot?

I get it. The vertical cut in the bracket isn't deep enough for the bracket to get low enough for the bolt to go in the horizontal slot. That looks like they were just cut wrong and you'll just have to wait for them to respond to get some replacements.

    Borrowed this photo from @mrchristopher2

Forgive my ignorance but I'm assuming those bolts slide in the track. If I'm correct, why won't the left bolt slide to the right a little?
If otherwise, I'd fabricate some oversize plate washers to cover the brackets.

If you need them to fit now, I'd suggest an angle grinder or rotozip and start cutting.

Why not just take a file and remove about 1/8" of material here to pivot it down a little lower.

You have plenty of ways to make this work, or you can continue trying to get ahold of the seller :notsure:

I would test fit on a different cross bar first to check if fits better in different location. Then loosen the screws on this cross bar and see if there is excess vertical movement and push the cross bar up while retightening the screws - you might gain .06” which may help but not fully solve the problem. In your first picture, it appears the bracket is tilted up towards outside edge, so agree with @Off Topic Guy , your best solution is to file the vertical slot up higher so bracket will sit lower.

How about the second bracket? Did it fit or shows same problem? What about the other side of this bracket - same problem or did the holes line up on other side? Send pictures to whom you bought this from. They may have 50 more of these with same problem so getting a replacement may not help but at least they can prevent more bad parts and rework what they got.
