    sounds good. i'll do a screw count w/ the extras tonight and see if i have the 4 extra to even it out. heading to OBX saturday and need all the bars for kayaks, so an actual removal wouldn't be until after then.

    Most people installing their rack with or without the weather stripping? I am leaning towards with the weather stripping but it looks like a pain to do. I don't trust myself to be precise enough to cut out the holes.

    i marked mine and cut out the holes w/ a 3/4" hole saw drill attachment, IIRC. spacers fit pretty snug inside the holes.

    Took the canoe out for a rip on the weekend, ran into a bit of a problem..

    [IMG]

    I've got the Malone Bigfoot system mounted on the Cabrac;

    [IMG]

    It's good, but I've still got to figure out how to raise the back mount about 2-3" to make sure the tip of the canoe clears the back end of the canopy. Last weekend I used a few foam blocks but the road in to the lake bumped both of them out. It took a pool noodle sacrifice to get the boat back home.

    I'm almost thinking something like a lift block slipped in above the bar but under the mount with longer bolts would be the best route.

    Anyone figured out how to clean the oxidation off the powdercoat of the wind fairing? She's looking like a 13 year old who works at McDonald's

    Not enough...
    Mine is oxidized as hell too. Would be nice to find something that cleans that.

    EDIT: looks like Harely guys use S100 on their podercoated crank cases. Have to try that.

    Not sure if what I have is oxidization, only happens in the winter with all the road salt here, but I used scrubbing bubbles (Spray it on and let it foam up) and then some magic black detailer and it cleaned up nicely.

    Other than cleaning every so often, would clear coating the fairing work?

    I may be wrong, but I think it has to do with the roof not being strong enough to support it. I'll let others confirm or refute this though.

    These days I haven't had much time to work on new models. The 1st gen double cabs are low on the list anyway because any cost effective way of mounting the rack requires drilling which most people are not interested in. The roofs are weaker on the 1st gens just because it is a solid sheet metal piece. The second gens have a nice gutter area where two the top of the roof and the sides are welded together. That weld and the channel formed into the roof add a lot of rigidity making it much better for a rack.
