That does help because im getting relentless bars as a temporary solution until the new rack is built. That 8" is from the top of the bed to the top of the bars correct?

I believe so. According to their site, the tall ones are about 8". I don't recall how accurate that is, but like I said it puts my tent about equal height.

Was told on September 5th that they were just waiting on crossbars... got an email today saying they're just waiting on the side rails then they'll need to be powder coated...? Almost 2 months since ordering and they don't have side rails? Sounds to me like they sold the ones that were available on September 5th... just a rant, don't mind me. I'm sure it'll be worth the wait

Sounds about right. I think it can vary too depending on what bedding you keep in there but I doubt it's very significant. Maybe an inch?

Can anyone tell me the height of the Cabrac for 2005-2017 Tacomas? Trying to do some parkade fitment calculations and that height dimension is tough to find.

For those running prinsu rack with fairing and light bar.

    1) Is there wind noise
    2) Does it affect mpg
    3) Would you purchase again?

    Thanks!!

Agreed with @geekhouse23 but I also don’t know what you mean about the crossbars. They are on the roof since it’s a roof rack??

The lightbar/fairing was originally designed for gen 2. Since Gen3 utilizes the same lightbar/fairing (different front profile from gen2) , I believe it experiences wind noise much louder than gen2. I’d like to hear people’s opinions.

Yes, there's wind noise on the freeways, but it's manageable if you find the best adjustment for the fairing; I mounted mine at the lowest setting and tipped it forward until the bottom edge just clears the roof. Any wind turbulence causes resistance, so gas mileage is affected, but this rack has such a low leading edge profile to the wind, I doubt it is that much and have not noticed it. The crossbars are high enough off the roof for putting U-bolts on them, etc. Get a piece of edge trim for it to put on the bottom of the fairing, it helps with noise too (CBI sells it for the Toyota rack, or you can get it from Amazon in the list below). I do and have recommended this rack to others, it's really well built and sturdy.

Thanks guys great feedback. Im on the fence i dont want any wind noise and want a lightbar up there. Was going to do oem rack and lightbar which also looks clean just not a versitile as the prinsu. I know prinsu sells a molding piece on website to help reduce noice but any will bother me probably as i like a quiet ride.
