I have a set up with 65” bars to carry my 2 wide kayaks. I have a set of 4 Yakima landing pads from my old roof rack set up that I attached to the Prinsu crossbars with carriage bolts. Only problem I had was a finding a nut small enough to fit in the landing pad hole. I ended up finding some threaded rod couplings that worked perfectly.

Now I can add/remove my 65” round bars/Yakima Control Towers as needed. I hauled 2 heavy kayaks 5 hours to the beach and back last summer, doing 80 mph on the highway with no issues.

Made some brackets to bolt a Thule Hullavator onto the Prinsu. I basically needed to add 5/8" so it could wrap around the bar.
I read a lot about the hullavators and that it needs to hang way off the side of the vehicle. This isn't really the case with a truck topper since the sides are relatively straight. It still clears my bedside by a few inches.

4' ARB awning fits damn near perfect on the cab and still allows access to bike racks.

It works fine for me, but my rack is raw aluminum. No powder coating or paint.

I'm guessing the search functionality would be my friend, but is it pretty easy to rig up a kayak rack to the prinsu cap rack? Does anyone just turn them upside down and rachet strap them directly?

I’m getting my Prinsu rack installed tomorrow. This is going to be for my work truck. It needs to carry a ladder which will be taken off and on multiple times per day. I really don’t want to scratch the rack up. I’m thinking of adding nylon wrapped pads for watercraft to a couple of the rails. I’ve seen people suggest insulating foam for pipes but that will not hold up to regular friction from a 28’ ladder sliding on it every day. I was also brainstorming at the hardware store and considered halving some PVC and bolting that over a rail.

    Anybody have a better suggestion?

And yes, I’ll post pics when it’s done.

True. I could also attach a Thule straight bar or two.

I’ve been stuck thinking about the ladder going directly on the Prinsu rack, but that’s not really necessary.

Thanks. This gives me more options.
