Fresh install. Moved the bars so I can’t see em from the sunroof.
Will mostly be used to carry a Yakima Skybox for frequent road trips, and hauling camping crates.

Anybody have this issue where the wind fairing doesn't touch the roof of the truck? Its got about a half inch separation and causing wind noise.
    any pointers would help. 20210220_112746.jpg

Haven’t installed my Tacoma one yet, but on my GX460 the rubber was touching the roof and squeaked like a mofo so I took it off. The slight wind noise increase is wayyyyy better than the squeak. Just my $.02

Seems like a quality control issue. I'd contact them and see if they can send you a new fairing. Hopefully it's just cut incorrectly.

Added a second Plano case. Anyone know the best way to remove the glue that holds the “egg crate” foam to the lid?

You happen to have side shots with those cases on there?

What do folks use to attach a spare tire to the rack easily?

It's not a good idea to put all that weight up there. I would strongly recommend against putting your spare tire on the roof. You can fit a <34" tires in the factory location and if your on 34-35's, you should look at a carrier of some kind.

Biggest tire you can fit in the stock location is a small 32 for a first gen. 33 requires trimming of the carrier bars. But yes I agree no tire on the rack especially a first gen, we have flimsy roofs as it is. Throw it on a rear bumper or bed rack if you can

Are there different "generations" of Prinsu racks or have they always been the same design? If I do decide to get one, I want to make sure I get the latest version, if there is one.

Whoa! I really wanted this until I checked the price, and now I don't want it anymore! How big is your kayak by the way? I'm wondering if it would work for a 13' yak. Would you recommend it? Because I'm tired of working up a sweat trying to put my yak on the roof, or bed.

I have a perception pescador pro 10 and a wilderness systems tarpon 100. You can look up the specs but they barely fit side by side. They are both fairly wide.

if you’re buying new, order the 897(older version) from prolineracks https://www.prolineracks.com/thule-897xt-hullavator-kayak-rack.html

you’ll get the newer 898 model, don’t ask me how I know.

Anyone know the dimensions of the Prinsu logo on the air deflector? I want to put a piece of aluminum behind it (red anodized) and would rather get that ordered before the rack arrives so I can put it together once. Thanks!

Hey guys - with a backorder on Thule and Yakima 54" tracks until around mid May, I was wondering if anyone used any alternative tracks such as Frontrunner, or Rhino Rack tracks in lieu of Thule/Yakima for their top rack?

I used proline tracks that were much cheaper. Their site appears to be down right now though.

Awesome. Thanks for your input. I just saw that the Prinsu's website only mentions Thule, or Yakima, so I was hoping there were other possibilities. I'll look more into it.

they are physically taller than thule and yakima, but their square nuts still fit.
