    TRACTION RAMP MOUNTS:

I am still working out some minor issues with these after some mess-ups with the manufacturing but this set I have mounted and am pretty happy with the results.

    AWNING MOUNTS:

Finally added my awning to my rack after quite some time of it sitting in the garage. I played around with a few different spacers to see a distance I liked. Ended up using some 1" aluminum ones like the rack mounts to the truck with. It sits nice and tight against the rack and is super low profile. The doors open and close fine without hitting the awning too. Only thing I modified on the awning were the zipper pulls. The metal ones would rattle on the side of the truck so I replaced them with para-cord.

    NEW OPTION FOR CROSS BARS

I finally was able to get a crossbar anodized in black. I have been testing them out along with some powdercoated and some normal clear anodized to see the durability of each finish. So far the black anodized have surprised me. They are only offered in a certain profile (1" x 2") but it is very nice. Stronger than the standard bars and only a little heavier. The price is a little more but more than reasonable when compared with a powdercoated bar. You can see the two compared in these pictures.

    RANDOM PICS

I have a tendency to tinker and constantly change things. I have been adding and removing stuff from the racks constantly but I am never dissatisfied with the versatility. I added a fork mount bike carrier up there and this is how my rack sits currently.

So far no. I have had them up there before with straps or bolts with no noise. at all. With a traction ramp mount in the front and rear they are not noisy either. I am testing now to see if one in the middle as shown in the pictures is sufficient to hold the secure without rattling or moving. They are pretty tightly held in place so I don't see any problems occurring.

Used the rack today to haul a padio table that we picked up. Worked great love how handy the roof rack is. The roof racks help to make up for our small truck beds.

Speaking of noise, I am not able to use my Bluetooth hands free phone while driving with the rack on the truck. Wind noise drowns out the callers ability to hear me speaking. Bummer.

Smittybilt Element Ramps. Their quality is heavily debated. I have used them over a dozen times now on my truck and others with no problems. Maxtrax have similar stacked dimensions so the bracket should work for them and the treds are pretty close as well.

I like them - I had a wheeling partner my last time out @ rausch bring them out when I high centered.
Seems like something I should add to the equipment list.

I thought all fasteners would be black in color, but several recent photos showed fasteners in shiny metal. Can we still get all black?

I was supplying black oxide finish but the finish was not durable. Many people were reporting rust after limited use. The only finish that would be durable is a boac zinc which has been nearly impossible to find.

I'm using stainless fasteners - the same ones I've had on my flares for quite some time with no corrosion issues.

I've had issues in the past with stainless bolts and raw aluminum , not sure if the high salt content in our air had anything to do with it

Stainless or zinc plated seem to be fine as far as corrosion goes. Just wish they had a black finish.

Galvanic corrosion , seems to be worse in areas near the coast with high salt and lots of rain or moisture like fog or condensation

On my old headache rack , I had to cut off the stainless bolts to take it off once and ended up using a surgical tubing sleeve and peel and stick on the washers to isolate the two metals

    Right, that makes sense.

I think door ding had mentioned this and that he was going to apply some type of spray on treatment to reduce this.
