My guess is that any MPG loss due to having a 2" bar vertically installed is lost in the "noise" of putting the roof rack on to begin with. If that's what youre asking about.

When I installed my prinsu, I lost around 1 to 2 mpg's (I have a 1" bar at the rear).

if you don't have a shark fin do you need to install the last bar vertical?

Also do you need a mallet for the hole punch? Or will a hammer suffice?

I did mine by myself, it's really easy.

The last bar has to be vertical if I remember correctly due to the position of the mounting bolts for the bar. A regular hammer is fine for the punch.

what tool did you guys use to cut the wind shield defector on the front of the prinsu? The rubber and metal seem pretty thick and it's way too long.

Why take the chance if you are not experienced at installs . My concern would be roof leak . My two cents .

too late now but honestly if I had known it was going to be this difficult I would've just paid the 600 bucks and had someone else do it. but almost done now. a lot of the suggests here didn't work too well for an older taco. Even prinsu instrution seem to cater to third gen more so then a 2008 2nd gen and there have been some differences.

I couldn't get the hole punch to go through at all with a hammer and even a 32 ounce rubber mallet. If you're doing this yourself do yourself a favor and just buy the solid 4 pound mallet and it will go through. Also wouldn't hurt to get a slightly larger hole punch if your truck is very old. I think you'll find the factory hole are not very well lined up with each other making the hardware prinsu sends tricky to use

the scissor don't work or maybe I'm just not strong enough to get them to cut the metal. I also don't know what the tool is on the right. Prinsu video instruction also assumes user know what tools are needed to cut it but I don't. I'm female. so I need the name of the tool to ask for it at the store for purchase.

Those are metal snips, but you have to get a pair that open wide enough. The scissors worked but strong grip required

I did use a Dremel with a cutting wheel. The weather stripping has metal ribs inside.

It’s the same thing? I’m also referring to the noise reducing trim that goes on the leading edge of the wind deflector.
