I've had the prinsu rack since last November from their sale. It's a great looking rack, but the wind noise is still pretty bad from it above 65+ mph even with the noise reducing trim. I have the front piece set to the lowest already. Will putting putting any storage boxes like the gun cases on top make it even worse? I've been considering selling it and trying the uptop rack since they claim their design is better for wind noise or just getting rid of it completely.

Anytime you put something like that on your roof it's going to increase wind noise, trim or no trim. Some racks may better, some worse, but there's still a price to pay. The only one's I've heard of that don't add noise are the OEM racks when they are folded up.

I stick a case on top. No noticeable extra noise. Although it is noisy without the case.

I would assume that it will increase the wind noise although I never mounted any boxes on mine.

I actually got rid of my Prinsu and found a different solution for cargo because I couldn’t stand the wind noise from just the rack alone.

Yes it will, confirmed. Sold mine for exact reason along with 3 mpg loss. Had HF gun cases on roof. Loud as hell. All the racks with that design will make noise.

I mounted a box to my Sherpa and it caused an annoying whistle.. Took a while to figure it out, but it was the carry handle in it's natural down position causing it. I added a short piece of dowel under the handle to lift it up just enough to get rid of the noise.
