For the folks who have the Prinsu Roof Rack, how did you cut the holes for the roof moldings?

Or do anyone know a shop/person that sale the Moldings with the holes cut already?

Too bad Prinsu didn't offer this.

    Thank you.

You mean the rubber trim on the roof? Don't you just remove the trim and the rack just bolts right into the already existing holes?

Interested as well. I assume you drill the holes in the molding after you pull the molding out and mark it. Then seat bolts with silicone?

I tried cutting mine, they ended up getting mangled. instead I just cut the molding into sections and re-installed once the rack was in place. I got a little happy with silicone just to be safe.

I apparently had no idea that people cut these.

I did this as well. I got mine a little mangled using a hole cutter and just said to hell with it and cut them into sections and adhered the moldings back with silicone. That part of the molding is literally underneath the bracket on the side rails. You cannot see it unless you want to climb up there and peak under the rack... still looks like a very clean install w/o the hassle.

I second this. I tried drilling but ended up sectioning and re installing with 3M moldling tape and silicone. Seems the molding has a metal strip in the center and getting it drilled is very difficult.
Someone had previously mentioned some kind of hole punches to do the job....in the Access Cab prinsu thread....

I used a hole punch (3/4" if I remember correctly). It didn't come out 100% perfect, but that's on me.

There's a prinsu forum here and a large BS thread that has a lot of information on how to do this. Also, search "prinsu install" on youtube, and there are quite a few videos that can help you out.

Cut the metal strip with a rotary tool and use a leather punch to make the holes.

Prinsu will never offer them precut, every truck has the holes drilled in slightly different locations. I took my moldings off my 2nd gen and they were not even close on the 3rd gen. Just get a good 3/4 punch, mark the holes and cut the metal out on the back, then punch holes and call it good.

I just left the rubber off and put it away in case i decided later I didn't need the rack. From the rear there is about 6" of the trim that will remain. So it looks like it's still there from behind. From the front the Air deflector hides most of the track. You'd have to open the door and step up to see that it's missing under the rack.

Go the punch route. I didnt for the first hole and it was a mess.then i cut a piece of 3/4 emt. Grinded it like the other dude, but only lasted a couple of strikes for me. Get a real punch or a ko set if you want it perfect. Dont bother w a drill.
