Are you referring to the bottom of the side rail
Or the back edge? The bottom is to
Match the curve of the roofline. The back edge was to extend It past the back of the cab but not quite over the bed and be able to add another support cross bar behind the sharkfin

This. A consistent spacing from the windshield would be ideal.

I wish I still had access to the waterjet at my last employer. I'd be fabbing custom taco parts left and right. I draft and 3D model for a living. Sadly, all my local vendors charge and arm and a leg. Was so much easier to just nest some parts on what would end up being the scrap of a full sheet of steel or aluminum.

So that curve was my best guess at allowing to match the curve of both the windscreen and roofline. I wanted it to sit as close as possible to be as aerodynamic as I could get it.

Thanks @MESO that’s a beautiful example of how it could be done and I’m sure you are well aware of the difficulty in matching a compound curve. This gets even more difficult when all I have to use to measure this is some basic measuring tools like a 24” combo square and a 48” level. Plus cardboard, tape and a sharpie.

Haha nice. Is that your creation in the photo? I’d love some help getting my design to fit that tight.

@Billy_trd i agree that is super nice. Looks like it’s curved along the length of it I might have to do a rethink on my wind deflector.

@MESO any idea where to get the rubber edge moulding for the wind screen?

@upTOPoverland @CBI Offroad Fab same question. Just curious what you guys ended up using.

Thank you so much. you guys are the best. I keep showing my dad the rack you guys have come up with for the tundra. He can't wait for it to be ready for a mega cab so he can have one installed. and thanks again for all the good feedback

The big difference is Meso’s plate isn’t flat.... it has a bow and carved arch?

Yes. It was just a lot of trial and error really.

It's curved to match the windshield. Here's a better view

Any more pics of the rack? The fact that the fairing is steel is even more impressive.
