The weight is spread out over a few rungs so it should be fine. This was a concern of mine. I'll fill the tire with helium so it will be really light

I was referring to the center of gravity being high with that amount of weight and top heavy. Didn't realize you had already planned on using helium to avoid this issue. Should solve any problem.

Bro do you even lift? It's a spare. Doubt it will ever come down but if it does it's going to be a rare occasion.

Has anyone ever heard of or used the M-Racks?
    https://shop.m-racks.com/store/Toyota-c24688240

Lots of the comments here talked about the look and the price. Obviously the price on the M-Racks are a lot harder to swallow, but the lines are GORGEOUS! It sits so tight to the shape of the vehicle, it doesn't really stand out as a rack at all, which is why I love it so much.

My biggest problem is their website sucks, I don't see any information on accessories and attaching other companies pieces to this. I am hoping someone else had to money to dump on this to give me some answers!

I really liked these when I first saw them but after looking at their pics it looks as though they were too lazy to make a bolt on design for the Tacoma and require you to drill holes in your roof instead.

Any roof rack for a double cab taco that requires drilled holes is off my list when I’ve got 3 perfect pairs of factory threaded holes on either side of the roof.

Edit: looks they were acquired by KC hilights??? Probably why the new site doesn’t have any product pics other than stock photos. There used to be a picture of one mounted on a 2nd gen double cab.

So I was looking at a Frontrunner for my Leer cap. The kit they have available includes the slotted tracks. I already have the tracks and they don't seem willing to just sell the Slimline 2 and the feet needed to attach it to my existing cap hardware. I guess I'll be saving money and going with Prinsu, although the Baja Rack looks appealing too.

Does anyone ever run canoes or kayaks on the roof racks? This is what I would primarily want to use the roof of my truck for, but haven't seen people run them on top of these racks at all.

Ill chime in with my experience with the Prinsu. Overall the design is solid but I would change some things with it.

    - The extruded nuts that you need to secure anything can get annoying. I found some nuts that you can drop in without disassembling the sides. Not that big of an issue, but I should mention it.
    - The modular design allows for easy shipping (Box is a reasonable size).
    - Overall Price. For what it is, I think its a little $$. For the average person, it works. I mainly bought it for the side supports that mount to the roof. I like that design, I could careless about the extrusions.

A Mod that I might do to mine.
    - I would prefer some sort of expanded metal or dimple died "top" with some Aluminum T-bar or Angle stiffeners (get rid of extrusions). This would make for a more versitile rack. Mainly you don't to have to slide a nut into the extrusion. This would also allow the user to bungee/ secure anything to anywhere on the rack.

    Just my $0.02

Haven’t done it myself but they are strong enough to do so. Just make sure it’s secure so it doesn’t become a kite.

Somewhere Prinsu thread there is a post about a spring nut that fits within the extrusion so that you don’t have to take it apart. The Prinsu allows for a lot of modularity, you just have to be creative.

I too haven't done canoes or kayaks, but I have put several pieces of 12' lumber on top. No Pics, but I had five 2x4x12's on top last week and then some twenty 2x4x8's in the bed.

I know, my first point was about the extrusion nuts that you can just drop in. I have several. They are all 1/4-20. I don't have any for the larger extrusions.

My main point is that, after owning the rack for the past three years, I have some modifications that I would like to do to mine. Its a good platform that works for many but, it is somewhat limiting for myself at the moment.

Do you know what kind of bracket you used to mount your awning to the prinsu rack?

What’s the max weight for parked car with PrinSu Rack. Could I go sit up there and drink a beer?
