I got prinsu up front and front runner in the back. It’s a reverse mullet. Party up front and business in the back.

I like the styling of Prinsu how it matches the lines of my truck. The con is that I find the accessories are lacking. I found front runner makes up for that with a ton of accessories. The accessories are easy to mount and there’s something for everyone. Overall both are good it just depends on what you’re looking for (form or function). In the end I got greedy and went for both. Plus I took my styling cues from @Shikokaon ;)

You might also want to looked at K9 racks. @inesshell might have some good insight for that rack.

Does anyone have comparison experience or knowledge with weight capacity? My truck winds up doing a decent amount of construction and farm work. There's going to be 300-500 lbs of 2x4's up there at some point in time.

i dont think they are rated for that much weight in motion, static yes i can see it holding that much.

most rack platforms out there are assembled and modular, my k9 is all welded design but i wouldnt trust it with that much weight, 500# in motion even tho it saids it can handle 700 -- especially if you plan on using tie downs, the alumn extrusions or channels that come with these racks will fail

I have an older leer topper I would like to put a prinsu on then a RTT on the rack. Will I have any issues if my topper is not reinforced?

I need to investigate this K9 rack further - one of my gripes with Prinsu even though I like the look and flat platform concept is that the entire thing is held together with nuts and bolts - something that has more fixed welds save for bolting the uprights sounds more appealing to me.

a friend of mine runs both the prinsu and front runner rack. You can stand on the fr rack and not have it flex, the prinsu will have some bowing.

Just checking out Eezi Awn's site and the racks. Looking at the design of the K9 rack vs Frontrunner or Prinsu, it looks like both the K9 and Frontrunner use the welded solid sides. K9 takes their rack a step further and instead of just cross bars running the short axis of the rack they have a cross hatch design of cross bars on the short axis and long axis of the rack - should make for a super stable platform.

I don't wanna derail this thread (much) but anyone have a link to a build thread on the truck pictured in the OP's post? Thanks!

My front runner bowed when I used to stand on it too. I’m only 190lbs. They are all aluminum, they’ll bend, but it takes a lot to break them.

Are you guys trying to haul a fiat 500 on top of the truck or something? Either will be plenty strong for the load our trucks can carry.

I had Prinsu on my first truck, frontrunner and Prinsu on my 4Runner, and now Prinsu again in my new Tacoma. It’s more of a styling preference for me than anything.

You can also easily modify most frontrunner accessories to work on a prinsu with just some new hardware from Home Depot.

Anyone change out the m8 nyloc nuts on the roof rack? I bought mine used and they’re all rusted. Wanted to replace them but they’re difficult to get out without scratching up the rack. Any help is appreciated

I wish I could jump on the Prinsu train because everyone seems so happy with theirs, but for me that wind deflector is a bit ugly. Is that thing optional? I haven't seen pics of people running their rack without one, I was just curious.

That's one of the reasons why I'm leaning towards getting a Front Runner. The modularity helps too, but I do like the flat design of the FR. I know that I'm chatting form over function here, but the Taco is such a beautiful thing. Especially in super white!

I LOVE the look of the KC Hilites / M-rack, but that one doesn't seem to be available just yet. They have a new design coming out soon that uses the factory threads in the roof, @moikeha09. My main concern with the M-rack would be that it is a brand new product (or at least a brand new design), whereas the FR has been around for a while and had all the kinks ironed out.

My Front Runner has continued to prove functional and I prefer the look over the Prinsu. Prinsu looks great on some kinds of builds but the Front Runner really matches the Tacoma well. IMG_20190208_072507141_HDR.jpg

It'll be out March 18th! I'm finishing up the install video today. Part of why it has taken us nearly two years to get the Tacoma rack out was so that we could iron out all of the kinks ourselves rather than having customers deal with all of the "new product" issues that are always present.

Mate, I just got my front runner up. What's the wind noise like with a light bar instead of the wind deflector?

I'd guess that if you're willing to drill and set in rivnuts (or have access to hold regular nuts underneath) at the bolt-down points it's very likely possible to physically do it. I've got no idea if the attach points of the Prinsu would align with the structure of the canopy (with an all steel canopy, that might not matter much). From the look of it, that shell might be strong enough that you might not really need a roof rack, though since you could just as easily mount tie-down points directly into the shell, and have more certainty that the load points align with the inherent hard points.
