I know this is a little old but…

I put my old Thule J type racks on my Victory. I don’t have the model and they are older. Bought them when I got my first kayak about 12 years ago. They seemed solid when I bolted them on.

I now have a Bonafide SS127 and I think it is too heavy for the Thule rack. The boat did a lot of moving around and I just ended up taking the Thule rack off and laying the boat down. It sits on the Victory rack on one side and on top of my Rocky Mounts ski/fishing pole rack on the other. Drove to the Keys and home that way, about 7 hours each way on I95.

Why? It’s probably no more then 5 lbs between the two. It’s not like you’ll be taking it on and off. It’s a set and forget install

It's actually almost 10 lbs according to the product desc., to me that is a huge weight difference.

You just answered your own question

Get what ever you like more. 10 lbs isn’t much. It’s a stationary weight. If your trying to save weight it’s all in the rotational weight of the wheels. The lighter the more fuel efficient it will be but by adding a roof rack your going to reduce your mileage anyways

Hey @monkeyevil, mind sharing the weight on the Victory 4x4 roof rack for a 6' shell? Thanks!

I recently purchased Victory 4x4 racks to find a few issues.

    > No traditional hardware will work with these Victory racks, including mods on the carriage bolts, square nuts, etc. After calling the company, they could not help either. I had to purchase custom hardware from them to Mount anything to this rack.

    > No bilateral Tslot openings. If you have more than one accessory, you have to uninstall them prior to mounting others since there is only one opening per crossbar. Would be curious if other racks had 2. This would make adding/purchasing/installing more accessories easy.

    > Racks don’t sit flush with each other. If you purchase a cab rack and a topper rack they won’t sit level. I called the company, sent them photos and instead of sending me mounts that would remedy the issue for the $1300 I spent with them, they told me to use blocks if I needed it with my board. Prior to purchase, I had called to ask if they sat level and the rep assured me they sat level.

    > Communication with company was sparse. I emailed and dMed the company with questions a few times and didn’t receive a response. The times I did receive a response it did not fully assist the concern.

I can’t tell you which rack to get, but I can share my experience so you can vet these issues with Prinsu and Overland- from videos- I see you can use carriage bolts for both and their racks sit flush.

Weird..... I've never had a problem with communication with them or hardware issues.

    Wonder if something changed.

Its possible they had an influx in orders that flooded their support email. The responses I received did not help or weren’t full responses, led me to think they were trying to get the responses out & over with. 2 email questions went with no response.

On hardware, it’s Victory’s custom hardware, has to be purchased through them for x4 the cost of hardware from other racks with the same design. So, they use the word “universal” though it’s not actually.

curious where you purchased the flat black nuts from, I was unable to find this in hardware stores. Where did you get these/what is the technical term for this part?

How sturdy was your set up?

Since they have a patent on the hardware it’s not available in stores. Though it looks universal, the sizes don’t exist to fit the Tslot. I tried grinding and filing different sizes.

Still up there, would say sturdy! Bought these, did not use the bolt in the pic, just the flat nuts, somewhere if you search, you will find just the bolts!

Sweet, thank you! Wasn’t able to find any rectangular nuts in stores and square nuts loosen easily. Not something you want a 110lb shower secured to!

Just installed the Victory rack. Such a cool thing and far more useful than the OEM rack. Ordered it on Sunday, received it this past Friday. Really should have assembled it ON the roof. Lol.

It was on sale so I figured why the hell not.

I loosely installed on the ground and then moved it into place. A moving blanket helped a ton.

I had to purchase and add more of the edge stripping to the rear just above the 3rd light. I was getting vibration and contact at highway speeds.

And just so the product tracker at the bottom of the page will keep these, here is some hardware that is super useful for the Victory 4x4 rack. Their hardware kits were too pricey and I wanted true stainless steel.

Odd. I had plenty of the edge trim.

It was just me doing the install. I did loosely assemble it on off the truck. Wound up laying another blanket on the roof for when It came time to drop the rack up there. Having the hard tonneau cover really proved to be a bit of a hindrance when trying to figure out just how to get it up there.

I will say, I'm really happy with it over the last few days. Little bit of added wind noise as expected. Could probably mitigate it by moving the cross bars a bit.

I do kind of think I should have ordered it with the cut out. 20221023_130725.jpg 20221023_130714.jpg

Thank you for these links! Where did you buy the extra edge stripping? Amazon as well?
