I say let the OP decide and add attendees when they want. The moderators can moderate the threads like any other, no need for them to approve threads being started.

Mod directed butthurt? Surely you jest. :p
    ^This^

The intent John and I had was to organize a group of over 10 people to a common goal. Mods are the only ones that can PM more than 8 people at once. So when I started receiving reply PM's, I don't know if everyone received the same message I got. So it can get extremely confusing.

John and I tried and experiment in the chat with staff section that didn't work...but it did leave Dalton confused as hell. :D This is what sparked John's idea. I won't get into details about what exactly we are attempting to do until after the BC meet concludes.

I appreciate the devil's advocates but the intent is not to exclude any one for purposes of ridicule or cliche groups but rather to organize and simplify communications between members with specific goals. The group buys idea is a prime example, as is the Secret Santa and what John is trying to accomplish.

Think of "private threads" as a new tool in your tool box. If you use it for the job is what intended everything will be fine. If you don't, you're going to have a bad time.

I've been part of forums that had these, the way it was setup was a thread with a special address and the link was invite only. No cheat code or anything to get in just the adress, and maybe even a password but I'm not sure how that was setup.

Sounds lovely! As long as it's not within firing distance of 4x2's house. I don't want to be dodging shells on the beach.

That's why he said most :D

 I hadn't thought of that....I did suggest long ago that Bob make us a "powder room" for the ladies only (you know how girls like to go to the bathroom in groups to gossip). I suppose this could work for that purpose too.

BOB! :angrygirl: Can we have a ladies only section? If we have to have a mod babysit in there I pick Ben on account of him being the one most in touch with his feminine side

why do we have to have him?

    No, "powder room"
we finally got our first female smiley in the the form of :angrygirl: so it seems logical that the next step is to have our own private section of the forum.
