Why does Toyota charge over $1K more for Pro Autos over Manuals vs. the ORs? Pros add $2,700 for autos from manual where OR only adds $1,600.

As far as I know the autos on the Pros only add JBL speakers vs. going from manual to auto on OR. IDK if $1K for JBL is really worth it.

Is there anything else Pros add to auto over OR autos other than JBL speakers?

Because you should save your money and buy the manual. It’s the better trans for this truck.

my off-road MT 4x4was 3k less then the AT 4x4. I was looking at a off-road AT for 34, MT went down to 31. I think it’s standard from what I understand to drop that much with lacking crawl, cooler, and price of trans. Are you sure they weren’t separate years? Maybe that just means the pros are over priced

Yeah, smart key with push button is a really nice feature. I’ve gotten so used to it.

No smart key with push button start, no JBL, no crawl control, but you do get the manual trans.

Question is- do you need the technology or do you need the MT?
I opted for the tech. Already have MT car, so I’d figure I’d just chill in the truck and enjoy the tech.

It's not about what's better. When you compare OR auto from OR manual vs. Pro auto from Pro Manual, going to Pro auto costs $1,100 more than going from OR manual to OR auto. what I can see is that OR auto gets all options Pro gets going from manual to auto, except JBL audio and shift knob. $1,100 for JBL is just crazy unless it adds anything else I can't see.

I got what you were saying, it’s not about what makes the differences between MT and AT but why OR and PRO don’t change the same amount, mine did but I don’t know why Toyota is listing them separate. My OR was 3k difference from the AT at the dealer. The systems are the same in that regard

Also better gas mileage quoted for the auto vs the MT.

I still don't understand how an OR gets same est. gas mileage as a Sport, when the Sport has that silly chin lip and also doesn't include crawl control and has a smaller rear diff!

Sport with manuals have the 8.75" diff. Actually any Manual comes with the 8.75" diff

I have JBL in my 2012 Sport. Probably one of the better OEM sound systems I've heard. There's like an 8 or 10 inch sub in the back from the factory so it has a lot more bass than most stock vehicals.

From what I can tell the difference is the JBL Nav package thats included with the auto Pro. Its a $5k option package to get the JBL Nav stuff on the auto OR.

Market demand. Cost of production is only a small part of the equation when determining the sticker price. The bigger influence is "what are people willing to pay for it." Compare the ratios of consumers demanding Pro MT: Pro AT against OR MT:OR AT, and you will probably find why the price discrepancy is what it is.

I'm not engineer, but I think sport has 17 inch wheels = worse mpg so it uses the lip to compensate. I do not know the weight difference between the two though and may that is a factor as well.
