Happy to see the boys get it done! Stoked Jcoop silenced the naysayers that were pulling for Craig.

Great team win. They were in control all weekend. Sometimes mud can be the great equalizer though. But they kept it on 2 wheels and all ran the pace they needed. Proud of the boys.

That was awesome that Cooper did so well. Staying up in 4th for that second race was impressive to get a small bike to do that in the mud. Finally was able to finish up watching everything.

Another note Jett is fast on that 450. Granted sexton and tomac were just trying to ride safe while Aus was pushing for a silver against France.

How do the bikes work for this type of racing?
    Mx2 is fully modified 250
    Mxgp stock 450
Open is a full kill race bike?

Ya the 250 spot is really important. They are always at a disadvantage, so if you can get a 4th from your 250 rider, that's huge.

Bike classes initially were 125, 250 and open (500.) Then as 500s started to fade away, it was just another 250 in that spot. And then of course 4strokes took over so it was 250Fs and 450s. But all bikes are modded as they normally are.

So MXGP and Open are the same bike unless you bore out your 450 in the open class. Don't think you need any more power than a factory 450 in mx and make it even harder to ride. Thanks that makes sense now. Forgot they used to race 500 2 strokes.

I think nowadays open really allows for a country to put the best rider forward, too. Some guys are just plain faster on the small bikes.

Correct. And no one is going to bore out a 450. There maybe even be a limit on displacement since 4strokes took over, but I honestly never really checked. Also, 1 thing that sometimes goes under the radar is the MXGP series allows actual works bikes. Much more freedom to make major custom changes to their bikes. AMA has a production rule so even Tomac's Factory bike is closer to a production YZF than the GP bikes are to a stock YZF. Granted in MXON, we could use that rule but there is just no reasonable way that our teams are going to be able to build/test a works bike with 2 weeks of prep time. So we just run our AMA bikes, basically.

Cairoli talked about the difference between his AMA bike this summer feeling much different than the GP version. Mostly in how the frame flex differs. Vialle actually ran the engine from the old bike (last year) because they felt right now it was better. But the rest of the bike was the new model. That would not be legal in AMA.

Prados Gasgas is the new-gen KTM with GasGas plastic custom fitted to it. As you know, GasGas did not update their bike to the new platform like KTM/Husky. So technically he's racing a bike that doesn't even exist lol. So thats not legal in AMA. Barcia's GasGas is still the older platform which GasGas actually still sells.

Nice I'll have to stream that on my way home from the office.

One thing I noticed is how few lappers there are when you have the best of the best out there.

Stiles Robertson to Star Yami for 2023. Wonder who will be leaving them now or bumping up?

Robertson and Jordan Smith are added. Craig gone (Husky 450) JMart gone (ClubMX 250) Nichols gone (AMA ride fell through, so not sure but WSX too) and I heard Leblanc might be gone.

So Cooper (450 a few SX races and 250 outdoors), Thrasher, JSmith, Robertson, Kitchen, Thrasher, Romano. Deegan will do SX Futures program and jump up to Pro full-time to start Nationals. Also that Farris dude from Spain for Nationals

That's a nice full 250 list. Glad someone can wrap their head around it.

So 450 it's just tomac and ferrandis

Ya the 250 team is solid. They just need to not all be hurt again lol. And ya, Tomac still supposedly SX only. DF both series on the 450
And like I mentioned, don't be shocked if Justin Cooper does a couple 450 races also.

And, I'm calling it now, I still think Webb signs with them after SX ends. Call me crazy but I just think it will happen. Lol.

Great signing. That kid will elevate his results w Star. I think he will be much better. J Smith I'm not a huge fan of that signing. Nothing against him but he's just always on the ground and I'm not sure he deserves to be on the elite team. But, if they can turn him around, then that'd be great. I wish him the best.
