I know there are a million of these threads, but I hope this will provide some insight for those that are looking and are curious what to buy.

In 2016 I bought the new TRD OR and this year I traded it in for a 2019 PRO about a month after release for 32k. I now owe 15k on the PRO and to be honest, this was a trading mistake.

First off there is almost no difference in these two trucks. I barely feel any difference at all with ride quality and the suspensions. I did not upgrade anything on my 16 OR, everything was factory. Everything inside was the same besides the rear power window. I fell for the PRO LOOK over anything. Granted the 1-inch lift, black wheels and the exhaust are cool and all, but I could have done this to my 16. One of the things I really don't like about the 19 PRO is the LED Fogs and Halo bulbs (the 2020s won't have this issue). I live in Oregon and for some reason I really don't like when both are on when driving from the mountain or in the dark. Just my opinion.

MPG. My truck is a daily commuter to and from work on average is 10miles 4 days a week. (4 10s) I averaged 18.2 in the OR and 15.4 in the PRO.

When looking at all 2020 forums that are being posted and what is new I would recommend buying an OFF Road model over the PRO. The PRO is a super cool truck, definitely been fun to drive, but you can save yourself a lot of money for pretty much the same exact cool truck in an OR. You could buy an Off-road, put the pro wheels and the exhaust (it does sound really cool) on and boom you have a PRO. Fox Suspension is not King or ICON. I took the PRO on the same exact trails and rides I took my 16. Noticed no difference. Hood scoop and Grill give the PRO a more badass look, but you could buy those and install them on your OR if you wanted.

I think it all comes down to what do you want to spend and the overall look. The army green is cool and all but, in the end, to me, and my experience it is not worth 47k.

This is just my experience and figured I would share. :)

When the 2020's drop, I might consider trading my 19 PRO for a 20 OFF-Road depending on trade and if it will reduce what I owe by a couple G's.

If you really want to try and close the gap on the money you are losing, wait another 6-8 months minimum. The initial hype on the 2020’s and electric seats will keep the prices high at the beginning of the model year.

    1) Happy to see an honest review of someone spending money and regretting it. Most times people try their best to convince themselves it was worth it.

2)I am surprised there is not much difference in feel, I would think the fox suspension would do SOMETHING. I have an OR and it's soft as baby shit on corners, would think Fox would have been a little stiffer ride?

    3) You said the green was cool, but the green color doesn't come until 2020?

    4) You are not going to reduce what you by a few thousand, by the time all the paperwork is done it would be a wash at best imo, but it doesn't hurt to look I suppose!

    5) Good luck !

Dont know why your mpgs are so low. I have a 2019 Pro and my mpgs are in the mid 19 - 20+ range.

? On your Pro. Do you have any squeaks on uneven pavement? I have some Can only hear them with the windows down and going slow ~< 25mph Dealership says normal.

I know there was a tsb on the 18' OR I bought for the squeaks. It might be sorta normal, but it sure isn't supposed to happen, I'd dig around and see if your trucks are included in that yet.

People know what these cost, and that's not at all what this thread is about...

I like the look of the Pro, but sometimes it's too much Pro. After looking at more modified 3rd gens with some of the Pro accessories added. Those has a cleaner look to me. It would not take much to make a Pro look little less Pro.

The exhaust is about the only thing I want off the Pro, and I went through this exact dance a few months ago before I picked up my '19 OR. I passed a Pro in the same color the other day, and that guy just...stared.
I'm glad to see the sentiment reflected about the Pro models, I really do think the OR is the best all-around

I hear ya. You don't get much for your money now a days I traded in a payed off 2015 Tundra and 10K cash for the Trd Pro so I'm payed off again. This has been working for me about the same for last three new truck purchases. Once your ahead on ownership from my experience you can get decent deals.

I have a 2017 TRD OR and was wanting to trade for the Pro. Initially I didn't care for the Pro at all but then Toyota came out with TSS and I wanted an upgrade. Nothing was really worth the upgrade until I saw what the 2020 had to offer. I want to give the Pro a shot because I want leather seats, a better exhaust, and a few extra bells and whistles that the 2020 offers.
I don't plan on lifting the truck because I live in the Southeast so it's pretty pointless. Another reason to get the Pro because I'm not going to replace the more expensive shocks with something else.
I have also paid down on my TRD OR that I can sell it and buy the Pro for the same, if not less, than what I paid for the TRD OR.

How are you finding a Pro for less than an OR? New at dealer I’m assuming.

Not finding it less, just will have enough money to put down and decrease my loan amount. I'm going to sell my 17 private party rather than trade so I can get the most out of it.

You can get Leather in the OR too, how much did you pay for your truck if you are able to buy a new Pro for the same or less?

Sure, aftermarket because it wasn't available in 2017. I got the TRD OR with permium and tech package for ~$35k OTD. I just reached 18k miles on the truck. Factoring in my grille guard and servicing should give me a good amount down.

Right I know leather was not available in 2017 but from 2018 forward it is available from the Factory on the OR and Sport. Just curious how are you going to find a new Pro for $35K or did I misunderstand something when you said you can get a new Pro for the same or less?
