TLDR: Front End Collision Repair resulted in a free upgrade to a TRD Pro Grill

    Story:

Have a 2020 and had someone run into it (other driver ran a red light). They hit the front end causing 18,000 in damage and among the things replaced was the grill.

I had the truck repaired by a dealership collision center.

I asked what the cost would be to install the TRD Pro Grill instead of the standard one, the initial
answer was that it was roughly $300 less than the standard grill. (I was skeptical but excited)

As it got closer to being finished I got a couple emails saying that they needed to order additional parts to install the grill. Which was fine because those parts still ended up being $70 cheaper than the standard grill.

Then came the TSS Sensor Garnish. The day before I was supposed to pick it up, they said it would require a $410 part to finish. After a bunch of back and forth and research on here I came to the conclusion that Toyota has a shitty parts policy charging $400 for a 3.5 x 7 piece of plastic. (Not the collision center's fault)

Ultimately, I ordered the D-Lumina knock off on Amazon for $25 and got the collision center to agree to installing it THEN calibrating the TSS Sensor. Got the truck back yesterday and everything looks great. (IMO - the garnish detracts from the aethetic of the grill because it's flat)

*Special Note about the Calibration - Due to the front end collision, Toyota mandates that the TSS Sensor be replaced. It arrives un-calibrated which means no matter what - they needed to calibrate it. I assume that's why the collision center didn't really mind doing it with the knock off cover.
