    Hello all,

New user here looking for opinions/advice on a purchase. I’m trying to decide between a TRD Pro and TRD Off Road, both used, both White exterior, both leather interior.

The Pro is a 2017 and has
18, 486 miles. Comes with a shell as well. Price is $45,990.

The OR is a 2020 and has 17,785 miles. Price is $44,990.

I feel like the obvious choice would be to go for the Pro but again I’m looking for opinions and advice. Is the Pro suspension really that much better? If a suspension upgrade is recommended either way should I just get the newer truck?

I would test drive both, the 2020 should also have a power seat if that matters to you.

    Too many to count
What are you planning on using the truck for? Do you have plans to mod or do any offroading or do you exclusively drive on pavement?

Well since I have owned an off road, guess it really depends on what mods you think your going to do to either of them. If you see yourself adding suspension and some fancy mods then go with the off road. If you going to stay mostly stock and you like the badging, go with the pro. Many Pro owners have that fancy suspension it comes with and then end up taking it off, is a few badges worth that?

If the shell has anything to do with your decision ask them to sell you the shell on the other one. My .02

The 2020 should have Android auto and apple car play as well. The 2017 has a large cubby on the driver's side of the bed.

They are 95% the same truck from the factory.

If they both have the tech package, get the pro, save up 1,100 and buy the 2020 headunit.

Also. You buy the PRO if you want a trail ready truck.

You buy the offroad if you plan on modifying it to be better offroad

Trim aside, I'd get a 2017. Seems like a reliable year. Probably just biases tho. No data to back it up.

2017 won't have "TSS": Toyota Safety Sense. Lane departure I guess, forward radar, adaptive cruise, etc. I have a 2017 and got it deliberately in late '17 (instead of an 18 that was also already on the lot) to avoid all that stuff but maybe you want it. I'd get the 2017 Pro with the shell if I were you but I'm biased. If you want all the electronic safety stuff get the '20.

I do plan on modding some and off-roading but it will also be my daily so obviously more on road than off

You can get a new 2022 Off-Road for that money. I did. It had 7 miles on it.

I actually had a ‘17 OR and traded it for a ‘20 Subaru STI cause I thought I wanted back in the car game. All of that stuff doesn’t really matter to me, I’ve never owned a vehicle with it

Between those two I’m taking the OR. As said above practically same truck. I’d rather pick my own suspension components.

+1 for getting a 2022 OR. Get a dealer to sell it for MSRP and you'll be able to get a premium one with advanced tech package for that price. I paid less (still MSRP) for my 2021 3 months ago.

Also, I just bought brand new 2022 OR for the same price as the pro you found. Something to consider.

Mods? We don't need no stinking mods.
Does the 2020 OR have factory LEDs?

That and Android Auto/Apple Play are definitely something I would consider.
