Just for reference: My '06 Access Cab Prerunner cost me $14,400 cash about a year ago in a private sale(found on CL). ~80k miles on it at the time. Pretty much exactly like the one you're lookin at, except mine is a standard. Had a bad throwout bearing at the time though, and Hawaiians apparently aren't into 6spds, so that helped bring the price down for me. I'd hope you're getting a warranty or something for that price.

Other thoughts: Those dynapros are great tires, I had them on another '07 access cab and they were fantastic. Also, there is a current TSB for the seat belts on these yr/model trucks(dealer will apparently fix for free, you just have to take it in). I still gotta take mine in.

hope that helps; any questions hit me up

    Ben

Look out for cabin wind noise.

Kazoo wind noise: There's 2 TSB's out for the issue. One being the front grille. And one being the windshield itself. (Front grill noise/ whistle perhaps not applicable for ’07.)

Cabin wind noise from the back – access cab – no Toyota solution. Believe to be caused by rear cabin vent. Noise occurs in moderate cross wind verified by local dealer with vehicle at rest engine not running, also occurs at speed. Sounds like the rear windows are slightly open. Does not appear in all access cabs, but others have noted the ‘feature’ on TW. Live with it or sell it.

Other than that a great vehicle.:D

    ENJOY!

Started looking at some of the rusty frame stories on here and a few of them kinda freak me out. Holes so big in the frame that the truck is rendered unsafe to drive. Generally they all seem to be '05 or '06 tacos. Was something changed after that to stop the rust issue or is this a problem all the way up to the new '14 Tacomas?

I'd roll under and check the frame for rust. Other then that the price is fair which is what I would expect from Carmax. I do like their no bullshit approach to selling cars after dealing with a dealership (it took me no less than 3 hours after I agreed on a price for my '14 to leave with it).

Tires. Are they new? If not, when will they need to be replaced? Is it worth having them throw new ones on now, price them into the cost (if you don't make new ones a part of the deal)? I personally like to start w/new tires. Also check if they're all the same (brand, size etc). Place where I bought my 09 put new ones on but fronts were 265 65/17 rears were 265 70/17. Wasn't done on purpose as it was a mistake. They took care of the problem w/2 new tires on their dime but it was still a pita.

I bought mine from carmax. Couple things with them. One, they don't haggle on price. Two, they usually price used trucks 1-2K below blue book value but make up for it on a trade in if you have one, at least the one I went too.
When you buy it, do your own routine maintenance on it. Filter, spark plugs, etc. I found their 120 some odd check to be a joke. You will also want to change out the rear diff fluid, which is a very easy job.

This seems to be overpriced slightly - I sold my 06' Sport 4X4, Double Cab with 75,000 miles for $19,900 to a private buyer back in 11/2012.

If you are able to travel a few hundred miles, and buy from a private party, you'll do much better.

PreRunners are nice - but there will probably be a handful of times in your life you'll wish you had have spent that $1,000-$2,000 more and had 4x4...and double cab....
