Serious question: Have you compared this to the cost of importing a diesel Hilux from overseas?

That's going to be awesome when you find out your wife is pregnant the week after getting your regular cab back from the swap.

This.... LS swap and call it a day, more power and torque for way less money than a D4D swap.

but not the same driving range… that’s the main reason I’m pulling the trigger on it

And I’m not financing the whole cost. Going to put a pretty substantial down payment down on it.

and I’m almost done with real estate school. Not going to be a parts driver for much longer…

mom keeping this truck til I croak so I’m going to do what I want with it. It’s not an investment piece, it’s a long term project truck that I plan on doing A LOT of ridiculous, unnecessary things to…

If thats the case there are other much better packaged options than the D4D out there. Cummins R2.8 comes to mind.

And if range is a problem... auxilary fuel tanks / larger main tanks can be had W A Y cheaper.

There was a couple trucks on Craigslist a few weeks back that were diesel swapped. I can’t remember where I was looking, either WA,OR or ID. Both were std cabs in rough shape had flat beds on each they were a company truck for pipelines or something like that. Can’t remember for sure. I’ll see if I can find the add.

Interesting. I wonder if a SSP 350 swap would be workable. Those cars/suvs get junked a lot, if yo DPF delete etc, then they run fine. I'm just eyeballing it here. Not a fan of a "custom" Motori motor. Common rail is always a bitch, especially on the SSP350. It's been, since you went to radio shack to build a megasquirt since I've looked at them, but I bet that's come a long way now.

I would be super curious to know what could be done for bell housings etc.

    Oh boy...
SUBBED! after almost selling my truck twice, but realizing its way too practical to let go of now (and its payed off) my 2010 will one day get a diesel engine in it as well. like where youre going with yours!

Haters gonna hate. If this truck means that much to you…spend away. Keep us posted on the progress.

i was actually thinking of doing the same thing I seen a 1kzte 3.0 diesel for sale below 4 grand, you could just find someone to do the swap. I would say look into that if you’re trying to save some money.
