    1. Yes I do. I'm going Charlton Heston with it.
    2. Oh, you haven't heard the news? 2nd gens rusting apart left and right? Better reserve a 3rd gen.

Depends. Even DCSBs are too long for hardcore wheeling around here. Even 1st gen Tacos and Jeep JKs are so long they can't get through many of the more difficult trails without body damage. And both are too long to even enter Little Rattlesnake. But at a place like Moab length is good. Ask the locals that wheel hard in your area what they think.

    That's not entirely accurate.

A JKUR with 35's and a 3.5" lift has no issues in Moab or in the Rubicon. 37's and 40's on a JKUR make things a non event.

Before the 4 dr Wranglers we'd stretch our little 2 dr's and end up with the wheel base of the JKU.

A Tacoma in a DCLB - that's sort of, go big or go home.

Unfortunately Tacoma's can't fit a 37" or 40" tire easily like you can on a JK.

I don't remember. Probably. Length in Moab helps on all those steps, descents etc. We used to do it all in tiny 2 dr Wranglers. We used to roll a lot too lol.

You guys are all missing the boat. If you want to have some REAL fun off-roading, buy a quad, they're made to take a beating and they're way more fun.....why would you want to ruin a $30,000 truck? Maybe I'm getting old haha...

Quads statistically hurt a lot of people. I have responded to fatalities involving quads and hills that aren't big enough to write home about. Bikes are fun too but you can't put your kids, dogs, and all your equipment on the back of a bike like you can with a truck, that had a bed.

Off road, you usually get the, "this isn't going to end well but I'm going to do it anyways feeling." 15-20 years ago I seemed to do that a lot. Now days I try to make sure I brought enough vehicle for the obstacle. If it really goes wrong, well, I suppose that's what we have insurance for.

Quads, bikes, and side-by-sides are a lot of fun.

I raced dirt bikes for 17 years (enduro and hare scrambles) THAT was fun. I had a quad, even raced it a couple seasons. That WASN'T fun. They wouldn't go where a dirt bike would. And they tended to get people hurt. I've been playing with 4wd's for 42 years now. That is fun! Plus, I can't drive a quad to work every day.

Have a look at what @Spoonman has done with his longbed. I'd say he would qualify as a "hardcore rock crawler", and has a "longbed" truck...
