I bought the addw1 oil catch can on eBay after seeing that it worked out well for a lot of guys. I saw pics of it mounted on the driver fender well and it looked good. I looked at mine today and I can't mount mine there because the clutch reservoir is in the way. For the life of me I can't find a decent place on that side of the engine bay. Anybody have a solution? I'm not a fan of running all the way over to the passenger side....

Whats wrong with installing on the passenger side? Is it aesthetically displeasing?

I mounted mine on the passenger side. I had mine on the driver side originally but access to the can was really tight so I moved it to the passenger side. The longer hose length will allow the warm air to cool more allowing you to catch more water and oil. No different than an oil/water separator on an air compressor, you catch less the closer your separator is to the source.

Just make sure you either mount your can so the inlet is lower than the PCV valve or have no dips in your hose creating places where oil and water vapor can pool and potentially flow back towards the crankcase.

I'm looking at this as well. Thanks 82 Yotaman.

Just for options does anyone have pictures of how they mounted theirs on the passenger side?

There are 2 holes on the passenger side you can mount up to, I used the one closest to the firewall. I fabbed up a mount from some angle. I don't have the addw1 can I made mine from an old air compressor oil/water separator.

Best picture I have right now but you can get the gist...

Thanks. I might try out this location. Is there any reason why the longer hoses would create a problem?

I will regroup and take a look at it again then. I just had it in my mind on the driver side aesthetically and bought the length of hose accordingly. I feel better knowing its been done on the other side. Glad to have the replies...it was about to be permanatly positioned in it's box on the garage shelf...

82 yotaman, did you have to use a longer bolt than stock when you mounted the 1/8" flat under the fuse box bolt?
