    This is a self-inflicted error...:frusty:

I purchased a new '20 Tacoma that came enabled for Android Auto. I'm not fond of new technology (I'm old) and I was initially irritated with the constant prompts to allow Android Auto to work and somehow...eventually...I seem to have disabled it. I was happy until...

Recently, my wife and I bought a new car and the Android Auto feature is actually really nice and I would like to restore the function in the truck. I have tried several times and I cannot seem to find any evidence of it being available anymore and so, I cannot get it to work at all. All I see now are prompts for Entune App suite which I have never used.

My dealer wants $210 just for a diagnostic + any additional cost of repair required. And, it may require that system to be re-booted. Seems like a lot...

    • My current phone is paired with the truck and Android Auto works well with new car so, not a phone issue.
    • I have a quality cord to connect for function, not an issue.
So I guess my question is...does someone know enough about the system to tell me if functionality can be restored and if so, help me through it? Or, tell me dealer intervention is required?
    :hattip:Thanks

Check that Android Auto is enabled in the Setup menu on the head unit: Setup>General>Projection Settings

Mods? We don't need no stinking mods.
AA/ACP is an amazing feature. I don't even drive to the grocery store without plugging in.

Stupid question, but do you still have the app downloaded on your phone? That's where I would start. And then look to see that it's enabled in your settings like spin180 suggested.

There might be a setting within the phone. I kind of remember the phone asking if you want to give the truck permission to do more than just charge the phone. If you hit no, it'll never ask you again. So now you have to dig for that setting.

And keep in mind some of the Setup stuff is only available in accessorie mode. Not with the engine running.

It's alive! Thank you all, much appreciated!:taco:

I would never in a million years have looked inside "Projection Settings" and, I did it in accessory mode as suggested just in case.
Very nice and I look forward to enjoying it.

I will also not forget that my dealer Toyota of Surprise (Arizona) would have been happy to charge me $200+ instead of spending 5 fucking seconds to help a customer. Gee thanks.:jerkoff:

And more good news...I've made two posts this week without getting banned again.
