Checking out some engine noise, I noticed that the driver-side, cabin-side spark plug boot was lifted up a bit. I tried, unsuccessfully, to push it down.

Being the brilliant guy that I am, I decided I'd pull it out. With a lot of effort, I was able to pull the boot up and mostly out. Now, I can't get it pushed down as far as it had been.

This hose is making accessibility harder. What is this hose, and can I simply unplug/replug it?

Also, what kind of damage (if any) can I expect from having applied considerable downward force on the boot?

Thanks, in advance, for any replies.

You can unbolt that bracket. I'm pretty sure the hose is fine to undo as well.

The boot just houses a spring so make sure it looks like any of the other boots / springs that you didn't have a hard time with and you should be good. If it was damaged you'll have a misfire in that cylinder.

It might be a good time to throw some dielectric grease on those boots. When they get stuck they can be a real pain to pull off.

The terminal is off-center, which is probably why I'm having a problem getting it back on the spark plug.

Any suggestions on how I can line that up with the spark plug terminal?

I have a spare set I just took off of my truck if you'd like them so you can replace it with. Nothing wrong with it - just bought an engine with good plugs and wires so mine can go to you. PM me if your'e interested!

Wow. That's really appreciated, but my local parts shop has it in stock and I'm going to pick it up, tonight.
