I have the locker anytime mod for over 4 years now with no problems as well as engaging 4 High and 4 LO. Now all I get is the beeping with putting into 4LO. 4H works as well as 2 wheel locker works. So it is something wrong with 4LO. I have tried with and w/o locker engaged. Did the normal park before trying to engage. Moved back and forth still no good. Just beeps the whole time and never goes into 4 LO. Ideas?

Do you have automatic or manual trans? I always forget with my manual trans that I have to push the clutch in, not just have it in neutral, for 4LO to engage.

Must be a 2nd gen thing, with my 04 I can be in first gear and get into 4lo as long as the clutch is in (at a dead stop of course).

Likewise I can get into 4lo without the clutch in as long as I'm in nuetral. Wonder why the changed it in 2nd gens, extra safety precaution maybe?

Your actuator is acting up. My 07 can be a pain at times to get into 4Lo. I found it best to shift into 4Hi while driving (make sure 4Hi engages) then come to a stop, shift into neutral and then click over into 4Lo. If it still doesn't go into 4Lo, put truck back into gear and roll forward a bit, stop place truck into neutral and try 4Lo again.

I don't think it needs to be in neutral and clutch in, just the clutch, but I forget that and try to engage it while just in neutral. Not sure why it would matter though.

I didn't think it did but I've seen it mentioned here before that both need to be in (nuetral and clutch) for 4lo but that's never been the case for my truck...l figured it must have changed when Toyota went to the turn-knob 4wd system

Mine has always made that beeping sound in 4LO and thought it was normal, but I can feel the difference from 4HI, so I know it's being engaged in 4LO. I will try the procedure you mentioned here to see if it makes a difference. I think because I felt it engage that my thinking made me think it was a warning, to tell you you aren't in 4HI.

Bogg, you the man. It is very temperamental but doing what you said a few times got it in and out. All functions work well 2w locked, 4H locked and unlocked and 4 Lo locked and unlocked.

Thanks much. I will exercise it more often but should I be oiling or cleaning contacts, etc.?

Just use it once every 4 -6 weeks for a few miles and you'll be fine. Change the front diff and t-case oil at the recommended intervals.

I'm positive it is engaged in 4LO, but I wonder why the computer doesn't. I usually engage the 4HI for awhile, then stop and switch to 4LO and it's really noticeable (very low gearing), so I know it's engaged. The next time I exercise the 4WD components, I will switch it to neutral and press down on the clutch, to see if that will stop the beeping. Maybe the computer recognizes the proper protocol/procedures, even if it's in 4LO so I could be doing the wrong steps to engage 4LO and it will beep, even if it's engaged??

It could be halfway in and then bound up and not able to move all the way in.

Either way if its beeping when going into 4hi or 4lo its not all the way in. There should be NO beeping when you are fully in either one of the modes. NONE.

OK, I will try to engage 4LO next time, using the neutral method with clutch in and see if I can eliminate the beeping ~ Thanks

im talking you have to push that mufukin clutch ALLLLLL THE WAY to the floor. and you have to be under 3mph. Try this, Flip to 4hi cruising at speed (under 60). then once its fully in (no blinking light on the dash) stop completely, put it in neutral and PUSH THAT CLUTCH TO THE FLOOR, sit for a few seconds, with it in neutral and clutch to the floor then flip to 4lo, let it sit for a second and see if it goes all the way in and lights on the dash stop blinking. If not. EVER SO SLOWLY let out the clutch to spin the trans and transfer case, ill bet it pops all the way in and boom, no more beeping and you are fully in 4lo.

I think it will work using your method and I bet it's just that I'm not fully depressing the clutch, so I will fully depress the clutch, following your steps if it doesn't. Big help and I will let you know if it works.

I'm glad it worked for you. Like others have stated, good practice to go into 4Hi and Lo once a month or so for a few miles. Helps keep everything loose and in working order. The more frequently you use it the easier and quicker it seems to engage. I've read some members opening the T case actuator and ADD solenoid to check the electrical connections. Clean out any mud/muck that may have gotten inside.
