Problem with Camper tail lights

So I hooked up the camper to wash it and prep for the summer . Checking the lights everything on my truck works fine. Flashers ,turn signals ,brake lights blah blah.All the lights on camper work with the exception of turn signals and brake lights . The tail lights light up when I turn my headlights on . Running or parking lights what ever you want to call them but no signals or brake lights . I cleaned both the plug and the recepticle it plugs into on the truck . I do not see any broken wires anywhere. Checked all fuses Ground on the camper looks good . Camper is 2015 . I have no clue what it could be any help would be appreciated ,thanks.

Try a different trailer. This will tell you if it's the truck or the camper. We can go from there.

Pick up a harness tester, cheap but priceless
Eliminates guesswork on where the problem is

 

Do you own a test light or digital multi-meter? They can be useful when diagnosing problems like these. It also helps to have a wiring diagram if you can manage to find one for the camper. Check for voltage at the tail lights, if none follow the wiring to the next connection, check there. If none then keep going. Once you have voltage you know the problem is in the wiring between the point you found voltage and the tail light. If you aren't getting any at all then the truck wiring may be the issue.

 

The tail lights light up but do not blink . Bulb has 2 elements one is running lights other I assume is the one that is supposed to blink . I have power to the bulb . But only marker (parking ) lights in rear are on .

 

I have a feeling it’s something with the truck but everything light wise works on the truck. If it was the flasher I wouldn’t have blinkers on the truck ( not mechanically inclined )

 

Sounds simple but do you have a spare bulb lying around you can swap just to verify to don't coincidentally have two bad bulbs? Unlikely but worth checking. Double check the fuses, and grounds. Like mentioned before, if you can plug into another camper or trailer you can quickly verify if its the truck or the camper.

 

Headed to the camper place this morning , hopefully they let me plug it into something there to check . I will def pick up spare bulbs too . Thanks

 

It’s the T-1 connector.In 2014 the camper place installed the brake controller and wiring for camper on my truck . They did not use the actual Reese harness for a Tacoma but anyway it’s been tested and the ground is bad in it . Was kind of half assed under the bumper kind of out in the elements . So ordered this :

 

Picked up 2 spare tail light bulbs also
