I always hear how bullet proof these Tacomas are. Just bought a 2016 double cab sport 2.5 weeks ago. Have less than 700 miles on it. Last night it sounds a little slow starting, acting like it doesn't want to turn over. It's even worse today with some grinding sounds when I start it and even more sluggish. Anyone have these issues? Spend 36K on a truck and already having issues, ridiculous!

I think there was a guy here that had battery or alternator problems.

Baron 55 you hit the nail on the head. Bad cell in the battery. Easy fix and no big deal. Just frustrating that this happened on a brand new vehicle

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Mostly everything made today like parts, batteries etc does not have the quality of yesteryear. These can happen to any vehicle. I know someone who has a $120,000 R8 Audi, he has problems every once in awhile as well.

Hopefully your fix is something easy like a battery, and you will be good to go.

I have 8300 miles on mine and no problems.

Sounds like an anomaly. Good thing you have a warranty! My 2016 has been flawless.

Glad it was just that. Batteries are hit and miss these days.

My truck has only these past few mornings and when I get out of work (temps in the negatives) made a short grinding noise when I push the start button. It doesn't grind while starting, just before it even starts turning over. I'm wondering if this is what you experienced, or if this is from the extreme cold? My shifter this morning (-12℉) was a little heavy to move also, I figured that's the transmission fluid thickening up in the cold. Could be wrong.

With smart key the grinding noise you hear just before startup is the steering wheel unlocking.
