How many guys are running the procharger in the 3rd gens? Have been looking at picking up a magnuson but the shop I work for is a procharger dealer, we order 3-4 kits every couple months from them and I saw they have a Tacoma kit.

    talk to me about them…

Since you work for a shop that installs Procharger, shouldn't it be YOU that tells us about them?

I can tell you all about the prochargers that we install on a different plate form, I want to know about them on these trucks mainly tuning.

Thanks for all the info you’ve given me.

Recommend against using a voltage booster for the fuel pump. Heard of one or two procharger guys with the 3GT doing this and the reason they're getting away with it is probably only because they're at higher elevation. If they came down to sea level, they'd probably burn their fuel pump out from it fighting against itself.

I've heard of a few people with tune issues or lack of satisfaction with the tune provided.

YotaWerx Tuning is currently working on a Magnuson supercharger tune for the 3GT and can move on to Procharger full time after that, although a Procharger tester in the meantime to kick things off wouldn't be turned down.

I was talked out of a pro charger for my truck by a guy who sells both it and the Maggie. they don't contribute to low end torque, which is what a truck needs and the tacoma sorely lacks.

this is what I was looking for, thanks. We tend to use the fuel pump boosters (or boost a pumps) on 75% of the cars we do and rarely have troubles but not knowing how these trucks act with one had me wondering.

Going to give procharger a shout next week and see if they need more “beta” testers on the 3rd gens.

following up and inquiring about level of interest in YotaWerx Tuning developing a tune for the 3.5L Tacoma with the Procharger like we did for the Magnuson supercharger

Is this something people would want/like to see? What about willing/available testers? Would need to be able to datalog with VFTuner, as well as have a wideband AFR gauge and preferably a boost gauge as well.

The current Stryker tune that we have released for the Magnuson application would likely work out quite well for the Procharger application, meaning that wideband AFR "may" not be absolutely required, particularly since the procharger likely doesn't provide as much boost lower in the rpm band due to its centrifugal design, but nonetheless I am not in the habit of releasing unverified tunes.

Any updates on the tune for the procharger? I have been looking at the two supercharger options and am leaning towards the procharger, but the lack of an aftermarket tune mostly for the transmission shift logic but also for maximum performance has the magnuson still on the list.

Negative. The Procharger option is a lot less popular, so we haven't had the opportunity for testing and eventual tune release like we did for the Maggy.

Overland Tailor Tuning has a ProCharger tune available if you're in the market for that kit. They're awesome kits and move quite a bit more air over the Maggy.

I'm currently testing yotawerx's stryker tune for the procharger. Procharger sent me an ecu flash and they put the limiter at 5500. I was only getting around 4lb of boost and all though the truck felt better it wasnt like "wow".

Today I swapped that procharger tune for the stryker test tune and holy shit. This truck now has a supercharger. Hitting 8lb of boost at 6500rpm and the truck is super fun. Hope to help provide as much test data as I can so that they can bring this tune to market with procharger kits because the shit tune procharger sends is probably the reason people are choosing magnuson instead.

Post up the Dyno sheet when you get it tested. I'm interested in seeing the torque curve to see where it is making more torque that I can use while towing.

Absolutely, once yotawerx is happy with the tune I'll get it on a dyno.

so how'd the yotawerx tune work out? I just wrapped up meeting with my local procharger shop, they load the stock Procharger tune but that's only the beginning

    Get it. 1000 fucking percent.

Truck doesn't really feel different with the procharger tune.

Yotaworx tune fucking rips. About 8lb of boost at their 6.5krpm limit. I believe the procharger tune had a 5k rpm limit and you could only get like 4lbs of boost out of it.

It sounds soooo much better and theoretically delivers better performance due to its hybrid driven state though. I really really like it's characteristic supercharger whine while the videos I've head of the Magnuson you can hardly tell difference between stock NA.
The only thing having me apprehensive about whether I want to get a pro charger in ~18months is that anecdotally there seems to only be one PC for every 20-30 Magnusons out there and tuning options are much more custom and expensive as a result.

Well for those who want an update here we go:
If anyone with has a procharger and is experiencing these issues or has fixed this type of issue please reach out to me! :bananadead:

about 7 months ago my truck was having codes for cylinder 6 air fuel mix issues. My thought was valve issues. Had a shop do a compression test and cyl 6 showing about 100 - the rest were a bit higher so decided to just go ahead and get the valves "upgraded" to better ones since I have read people having issues with stock valves. Well...took 7 months due to the head builder "waiting on the valves to be machined". Picked the truck up yesterday and headed home, drives perfectly fine casual. No boost or even just gradually letting the boost climb it seems to drive and pull fine. The moment I introduce fast boost in about 3rd gear the truck throws misfire code and that cyl 6 air fuel mix code and goes into limp mode. I have to pull over and restart the truck to get it out of limp. I proceed to drive it normal and casual with no issues, shift down to throw the boost into it and I can began to feel the truck want to bog down and stutter so I back off the boost and engine goes back to driving fine. I'm at a loss, honestly just feels like a possible tune issue? I just purchased VFTuner to get in and see what's happening. Never done any tuning so looking at some guides around here to see what to look at. My assumption is my tune is really close but maybe timing gets off once there's too much air coming in to fast or a lack of gas when that happens. Maybe just not shock it with boost but what's the fun in that? I've replaced most things, just dropped a bunch of money on that valve rebuild...so at this point I'm frustrated and hoping its something that can be tuned out.

The head scratcher for me is the first tune I got from Yotawerx back when procharger was fairly new and not many tunes were done yet ran for about 5k miles fine - Huge difference over the tune that came from procharger. Yotawerx guys are awesome too! Then I started to have cyl 6 air fuel mix issues. I saw that the Yotawerx guys had recently got a truck with the procharger on dyno and my hopes was that the tune that was done for him would fix my issues. They sent me the tune and even though it felt much better the air fuel mix issue popped up again however it never caused limp mode. After discussion with them we all decided it probably needed a compression test. So here I am 7 months later with the same issue except now its rougher idle, throwing a misfire code which is causing limp mode and still having cyl 6 air fuel issues. I've replaced most sensors related to these types of issues. Seems completely boost related. I would assume IF there was an actual issue with the cylinders it would misfire/bog with casual driving too.

    Update:
Might be unrelated...but I noticed that the purge canister hose was kinked to the point where I'm pretty sure it was pinched off. Don't know if this could cause all the problems but I fixed it and have yet to drive it.

    Screenshot_20240629-154419~2.png

    Update:
No change with the hose fix. Looks like getting to the injectors is a pain. Just dropped the truck off with the shop again to have all injectors cleaned and to replace cyl 6 injector. With the code consistently being tied to cyl 6 this is my last resort before setting the truck on fire in the woods.

Our ProCharger tune is the same cost as our Maggy. $475 for the tune pack.
