    Good afternoon to all,

I have these posted in the B/S/T section but wanted to introduce them on the general forum as well. I have been working for the past few months on a new product for Double Cab Taco's (both 2nd and 3rd gens). I am pleased to announce they are finally ready after multiple design iterations to ensure a perfect fit in multiple different configurations.

What I have created is a platform constructed 100% out of ABS that is custom fit for our backseats to give you a flat surface once the seats are folded down. This serves multiple purposes such as protecting your seats fabric/leather when your pets are riding inside (hair/claws/etc.), or a flat surface for carrying gear that increases the amount of usable space in the backseat (which also protects your seats), and many others.

The platforms come in two configurations, a full length (covers the entire width of the backseat and weighs right at about 20 lbs.) and a half length (covers the 60% seat when folded, allowing you to still leave the single seat in the upright position if you needed to carry dogs/gear etc. AND carry a 3rd passenger, and weighs right at about 12 lbs.). Like I mentioned earlier, they are constructed 100% out of ABS and install/remove in less than a minute so can easily be taken out if you need to re-deploy your seats in a hurry. Since it is constructed out of ABS, it is also 100% waterproof so can be tossed in the bed of your truck no matter the weather conditions. This is also beneficial if used frequently for pets or dirty gear, as it can be cleaned quickly just by spraying it off with a garden hose.

Each platform will come with specially designed "pop locks" that slide over the seat latches to ensure the platform will not fall forward and fold itself up in hard braking or bumpy conditions.

Please see attached pictures and check out the website I have created as well at www.platz-form.com. I have a couple of each size available right now and more are on the way.

Let me know what you think and if you have any questions! Thanks for looking!

How about one for an Access Cab?
We're more likely to want that flat surface for carrying stuff.
I would glue carpet to the horizontal portion to make it less slippery for my canines.
Did something similar for my '06 TRD OR AC with plywood. Covered it with carpet. Still resulted in by pup getting his paw stuck between the edge of the plywood and the back of the front seat because of a HARD stop. Not pretty!

Currently only have platforms made for double cabs but I have had more interest in the access cab option so I am looking into making one for you AC guys! It started as a solution for my own use and grew into a business, since I have a DC, that's what I started with but have friends with AC models so it might be coming soon!

Make sure that the front edge allows for front seat travel range.
I like the concept except for the horizontal surface finish and the price.

The front edge sits against the rear folded seat, this part does not move with front seat position. What do you mean by horizontal surface finish? The platform is not smooth and has a texture to it similar to bedliner (the wavy type, not the sandpaper type)

Something with a coefficient of friction similar to indoor/outdoor carpet.

Thanks for the input. This would be specifically for your dog to have more traction? I built these specifically for my dogs but also use them regularly for gear and havent had an issue with either but am very open to suggestions regarding potential future add-ons or changes for future generation models.

I have an OEM bed mat in both Tacos - when I place my toolbox in the bed near the tailgate, after several miles of travel (say 20 miles) it slowly works its way forward. Point being, even though the coefficient of friction for the mat is rather high, things still slide, albeit not particularly rapidly.
While my point is in regards to my canines, even my toolbox placed on the carpeted platform I had in the '06 still 'walked' around. A really hard stop would still put it against the back of the front seat, sometimes overturned (because of the carpet I think). My dog's foot getting stuck had more to do with his putting his paw forward to compensate for the hard braking. Nonetheless, I think a 'rougher' surface would be better than a textured plastic surface.

I tried multiple different materials and ended up with textured ABS because like you say, everything has a tendency to slide around with hard brakes / turns and the like, so ABS was chosen because things didnt slide around too much more than other materials and my dogs paws were able to maintain traction on it as long as toenails were properly trimmed. As well as ABS being very lightweight and waterproof allowing for rapid transition of dogs/gear back to passengers and super easy maintenance, just rinse with a hose and it's good to go. While other materials may have had a higher friction coefficient, those weren't waterproof or lightweight. So maybe there could be different styles to suit different needs, this one was created as a general purpose "do-it-all" material.

Used the platform this weekend to get a few more plants to replace ones that didnt make it through the Texas Blizzard a few weeks back. Platform came in handy so the plants didn't get their leaves blown off in the bed, and also was very easy to clean off the excess/spilled dirt on the platform without needing to clean the seats!
