Has anyone had any luck with programming a new chipped key? Youtube videos don't seem to be working for my 2010 Tacoma Sport.

Pretty sure you need either a scanner (capable of bidirectional communication), or a sketchy chinese programming thing, or some cracked Techstream software & a cable, you can't do it just from the driver's seat.

I have access to a Snap On Solus, so I bummed that for a few minutes to do mine. That was pretty damn quick & simple, and walked me through everything step by step. It was like 5 minutes once I figured out what I was doing. If you have such access, you can do it without buying anything. If you know a cool local mechanic that would have one (any good shop should) you might be able to bribe such a person with a case of beer.

Just to confirm a few things, do you currently have a working black key? If you do, then as mentioned, with a scanner or $50 Techstream and a laptop, it's a piece of cake. If you lost all of your keys, Ben Dover Anne Takeit is your only option. If you only have a grey key, supposedly a you can't add more keys, but some TWers have reported success the an ebay Smart Keymaker.

I've got a master key. it's the only one I have. Thus, trying to get a new one working. Amazon had the keys for $20 for two. Toyota wanted $90 for one. Another $40 to cut it. Another $90 to program it.

Go to a locksmith and have them cut them. Don't go to Ace Hardware, or Walmart, or Billy Bob's discount auto parts. Buy a few cheap plain metal keys while you're there. They're great for a hide a key or a wallet key to get you into the truck. If your key is visibly worn, have then cut the new keys by the numbers. Don't copy a worn key onto a new key. Ask them how much to program them. If they quote you a good price, go for it. If you feel it's too much get yourself Techstream or Smart Keymaker, or find a buddy with a scanner.

Thanks for the info. Looks like there is a Toyota keymaker on Amazon for $35. I'll definitely check into the locksmith.
