I installed a new set of wheels today with new tpms sensors. I have added the sensor IDs into techstream and drove around probably 20-30 minutes but my tpms light is on solid. The sensors are BH Sens, the same ones that Discount Tire uses. I noticed my OEM sensors were 7 digits and the new ones are 8 digits with two leading zeros. Techstream will not accept an 8 digit ID so I dropped the leading zeros, is this correct?

I have the same sensors. No love. No answers. Nothing worked. Swapping back to the stock TPMS tomorrow. I even asked in the wheels/tires forum here and got all the same "try this" answers. Either they don't work or there is something new going on that Toyota changed.

That’s definitely not encouraging. Were your sensors programmed via techstream as well?

In my 2021, I know when I rotate my tires the truck can identify where that tire is. The new system might recognize the new sensors on its own over time?

No they couldn't even get the sensors to program at all. It's really odd and I don't understand it. Even worse is that Discount tire has zero clues on how to fix it. They refunded me tho.

I did not buy mine from discount tire. I was able to put the IDs in techstream, it just never shows a pressure on the dash and the TPMS light is on solid.

Did the shop that installed the tires "wake up" the sensors? Brand new sensors sitting on a shelf are put into a "sleep" type mode. Once you install them, or maybe right before (doesn't matter) you use a wireless programmer to wake them up. Then the computer can pick up their signal once their IDs have been input, OR you clone the stock IDs into them.

I bought a hand held programmer off Amazon and just cloned my stock sensors into a set of aftermarket sensors. This is way before I even knew what Techstream was, so now I have a wireless tire pressure gauge\programmer. Sort of expensive, but a handy tool nonetheless.

I am assuming they were because when I got them they all had a sticker on the box that they were pre-programmed and they had 2021 Tacoma handwritten on each one.

Gotcha. Maybe contact the manufacturer to see about the discrepancy with the IDs being too long to match Toyota's.

If worse comes to worse, it doesn't cost much to have a tire shop program them for you. I know I avoided them and bought the wireless tool, but I'm also a hard headed do-it-yourselfer, borderline autist. Lmao

After doing some more research I think the sensor ID that is on the sensor is not the actual ID. The BH sensors are universal and ship "blank". The place I bought them from 'pre-programs" them before shipping and that process is what created the IDs. I ordered an ATEQ tool so I can see the actual sensor ID they are broadcasting, once I have that I believe I can get it to work.

That's the same brand tool I have. It works great for programming but you'll end up using it most while adjusting tire pressures on any vehicles that have TPMS. Lol.

2nd all these comments. You need to scan them with the reader and use THAT ID for TS programming...you should be set. Just went though my own purchase like @Murd3rd and it worked out great!

If anyone is in Virginia and needs help with TPMS on their Toyota I am happy to provide services!

Just wanted to update the thread that I did get it working. My theory was correct. My ATEQ tool came today and I was able to read the actual sensor IDs and then program them in techstream and the light went off and pressures showed up.

I purchased the Autel TS508 but I cannot get my new sensors to program to my ECU on my 21 Tacoma I can read the sensors, but it will not allow me to program the new ID's into the ecu
I purchased a 3.5 inch lift and 285/70/17 K02's and new FUEL REACTION 17X9 -12 with new tpms sensors from Custom Offsets.

I keep seeing techstream can actually program the new ID's where can i buy this and is it a kit I want to make sure I get everything I need when I order it?

Everything you need to get TechStream for yourself (for Free) is in the first post in this thread:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/ecu-tsb-update.562550/

Read carefully, and ask for help (if needed) in that thread.

Yes, I am in the process of getting TechStream downloaded. I am trying to register on MHH Auto's website waiting on a registration code so I can post the needed information for registration. Thank you for the info on getting me going in the right direction.

Not enough bandwidth on the internet to list.
Post up your successes or failures with the Autel, please. Did you try Cloning the OEM numbers?

I was JUST at Big Brand (my usual shop) this morning and they were trying to find out if my RR sensor was damaged as the dealer claimed when I went to warranty my dead TPMS system on a 7k new truck. It was undamaged but dead.

I have a new set of wheels to put on my 5k old tires and I literally just bought the Autel 508 and 4 Autel MX 1 sensors. I don't want the OEM's in there if I'm going to have issues. The Autel stuff gets here on Sunday and I want control over what I can do with my TPMS. I understand there are some things I can do, like program OEM's with it but the other positive is Big Brand sells and uses Autel, also. They just wanted almost $60 a sensor, though. Screw that, I bought my own stuff!

Sounds like you are on the right track.
All you need now is the Tactrix Adapter ( https://www.tactrix.com/index.php?p...=53&vmcchk=1&Itemid=53&redirected=1&Itemid=53 ), and the Tactrix Drivers ( https://www.tactrix.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=38&Itemid=61 ).

I had this happen with 4WPs they would see the codes but never program them. I wonder if the issue was the length that you noted. I was planning on getting techstream and giving it another try since most of the people there are morons
