I'm just messing with Jake. I know he rents most of his stuff. I need to start doing that! I am currently saving up some money to upgrade though...I just have a starter SLR camera that I've had for a little more than two years now (Digital Rebel )...

I'm just now getting into photography again. :D

    A little too much. :p

I'm thinking MAYBE a Canon 60D or 50D. I'd look at Nikons too because I'm not biased but I already have lenses for Canon and it's not I have money to blow to get new lenses for a different brand. :p

Hahaha completely understand. This camera was 1k 4 years ago and have had it since. But the lense was only 130$! It's the Nikon 50mm 1.8D but my 16-85mm VR was around $600 or so. I've had all this gear for years though.

I would hold a couple canon/nikon cameras and see how they feel in your hands. Also see which company has the most features you can get with the money you have to spend. Let me know if you need a second opinion

You don't need to post every day but you can. It keeps the thread alive and maybe some useful comment about your shot as well. Just make a link to all your 365 photos

You don't need a $1K camera. Although I saved my $$ and bought a Nikon D90 a year and a half ago. I also have a nikon coolpix L5 that I bought at a pawn shop for $40. My pic's for the day were taken with the L5 cheapo camera.

I tweaked the Morning Bus a little. I cropped it and cleaned it up some but it is still a noisy pic. The cheapo does have it's limitations but it's easy to carry around and I still have to frame the shot.

First attempt. Trying to get a close up of the morning frost. Rare in Phoenix.

This is from my Canon Rebel T1i on Auto because I know nothing about all the different settings.

Good first try. Keep taking all the shots you can and play with whatever software you may have. It's all about trying anything and seeing how it turns out.

Check out this site http://www.kenrockwell.com/index.htm He has some good pointers.

BTW that T1i looks like a nice camera that can do anything you want. You just need to explore your camera and creativity.

Added extra awesomeness to its original awesomeness.
Tried a little photo shopping. This is from day 1 (still learning the new camera) for the project.

Its been awhile for taking pictures, so go easy! This would have been better in my opinion with a wide angle lens.

please, do not go to ken rockwell. that guy is the biggest tool ever. He gives terrible advice, and all his advice is a matter of opinion, and hes not even a talented photographer. AND he isnt pro, (he also claims he isnt a pro on his site) i would rather get advice from professionals rather than unprofessionals.....

if you want REAL good advice Check out:

    www.froknowsphoto.com
    FroKnowsPhoto's Youtube channel.

    DigitalRev:
    Their Youtube channel.

    or QQQQcon on youtube.

those three guys know what their talking about, especially Jared Polin from FKP

I thought about that but decided to poke him instead.

I wouldn't know what to charge for a shot anyway.

Panda, is your 14-24mm a Nikkor? It's clear that you really like that lens. I wish i had $$ for that lens. the lowest I've seen it is $1300 for a refurb.

Yes, its made by Nikon in Japan :D

Its an amazing lens for Nikon's FX camera (full frame)

but for DX sensors you might want to try the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8

my 14-24mm on a DX sensor is really, 21-36mm....

as opposed to the 11-16 is really 16.5mm-24mm so you get ALMOST the same angle of view as my Nikon 14-24mm. AND their both 2.8!
