Booger insisted on being in the shot. He had been running in and out of the pond.

Thanks for the bump! The DCU is very practical with the ambulance doors after removing the tailgate. I used it on my 2012 reg cab longbed. I originally bought it from a guy with a 1st gen long bed. The reason I'm selling it is to create some more room in my shop. Just bought a FZJ-80 and need some walking around room to work on it. It's used but everything works including the key to the side and back locks. Weighs about 200 lbs +/_. My dog loved it when I had it on the tacoma.

What’s the height of it from bed rails to the top?

Have any photos of it on your truck showing the height vs the cab height?

Sorry, don't have any pics of the topper when it was on my truck. It's sitting in my shop now, so it's out of the weather.
Here's some dimensions of the topper:

    1. height of topper from bed rails to cab height: 23 1/2" (sits above my regular cab by about 3-4")

    2. Over all length of topper: 74" (front to back)

    3. Over all width of topper: 59 3/4" (from outside to outside)

    4. Width of bottom of ambulance doors (fits between rear bed pillars, just between rubber nipples for tailgate stop, flush with rear of pillar when tailgate removed): 53 1/2"

    5. From bottom of ambulance doors to bed rail height of topper: 17 3/4" ( there is a small corner gap exposed where the bed pillar curves back into the bed side of my 2nd gen tacoma and the topper makes a right angle when on my truck.

I bought the topper from a neighbor with a 1st gen tacoma access cab with long bed. I think the 1st gens are slightly more narrow between bed sides. When topper is mounted on my 2nd gen there is about 1" of bed rail top exposed outside of the topper on both sides. I used four u-bolts around my stock tacoma adjustable tie down rings that are fixed to the side rails to fasten down the topper to my bed.

Haven't had much response, so I've decided to do some modifications to the DCU and will keep it as a project.

    Here's what's going on now:

First wanted to shave some weight so I took the steel shelves off.
    IMG_1466.jpg
5 screws on both sides need to come off...
as well as drilling the rivets holding the top of the shelves to the inside frame of the topper.
    IMG_1468.jpg
Then it separates from the topper.
    IMG_1469.jpg
The shelves are about 40 lbs, so lost some weight, making it easier to manage the whole topper as I slide it back on the bed of the tacoma. The entire topper is now all aluminum and weights approx. 100 lbs.
Mounted the topper to the bed rails using four u-bolts, bar washers, and 14 mm nuts.
    IMG_1479.jpg
I hand tightened the nuts until the topper was positioned, then torque'd them down.
Now I can lift the side hatch and access the whole bed on that side.IMG_1490.jpg
    Here's some pics on the tacoma.IMG_1491.jpg IMG_1500.jpg IMG_1498.jpg
Overall it makes the topper way more usable and ready for gear or transporting sheep.IMG_1505.jpg

Next task is to clean it and maybe a respray. I would also like to attach a couple of c-chanel rails to the top so I can attach different components to the roof. Also might attach a light bar to the front of the topper where it extends above the cab of the tacoma.

Do you have a gap on the front side of the truck bed(by the cab)?

Thanks, I need to put that on the to-do list. There is about a 1" gap between the topper front wall and the front top of the truck bed. I need to fill that in with something to keep rain out. Thinking of some type of rubber weather seal would work.

I also need to wire the interior lights to the battery. A possibility down the road would be to mount some type of solar panel on the roof and feed that into a separate battery mounted into the bed of the truck and could run a light bar on top running off the second battery.

If you wire Low voltage Led I don't think It would hurt to tap into your trucks existing power. Now if you run multiple thinks for the camper then I would suggest a second battery or power bank system.

The existing interior lights would probably be low voltage, one above the rear doors and another above the side hatch. Also have the brake light to wire up.
I saw your DCU in your avatar, wow, it's a condo. Would like to see some pics of your DCU, especially the interior.
