Unless you got deep pockets I wouldn't go there...I've wheeled with them guys before but they won't be touching my truck ever...they cater to the rich Greenwich mall crawler crowd mostly or like I said people that have tons of money.... What kind of lift u have or wanna get? I don't know anyone by you but if u wanna drive an hour or so I know there's some ct guys that were talking about a mod day....I don't mind lending a hand

I might have been one of those guys talking about a mod day in the "anyone from CT" thread haha. I kind of got that impression when i talked to some of the guys at EVB, they sounded like they didnt have time to answer my questions, or they just didnt want to deal with me. I have a complete OME setup with dakars in my garage. I decided to try to take it on myself, a mod day would be awesome but it seems like alot to do in one day. Just waiting on a few tools and hopefully i can get started soon. Thanks for the offer, i might have to hit you up if i run into any problems and have some questions about the install.

Definitely do able in a day. I installed new coilovers, uca's, leaf packs, u bolt flip kit, bump stops, and probably some other stuff in a weekend working half days by myself and with a broken finger in a splint. As long as you get the front or rear done at once you can always finish the other end another day

Damn thats pretty impressive. I didn't buy assembled coilovers, i just bought shocks and springs so i was planning on taking out the stock coilover out and bringing them to a shop with a spring compressor so they can disassemble them an use the stock parts to build my new ones. I don't think i am comfortable trying the no spring compressor method. Good point about doing the front and the rear another day. Maybe ill try to get a mod day going to install my dakars cuz those fuckers are pretty heavy, and do the front myself.

If you ordered new shocks and springs what do you need off the stock coilovers?
Some shops won't assemble or disassemble coilovers unless you bought them there, but if you find like a mom and pop auto repair shop they might be more willing to work with you. My first lift was bilstein 5100s and the hardest part was finding a shop to swap my stock coils onto the new shocks.

I was under the impression that i need to reuse the top plates and nuts and bolts. The OME shocks came with new bushings and spring perches. I could be wrong, i dont know exactly how it all goes together i was planning on learning as i go, this will be the first time i have done any suspension work. So if i am wrong please let me know lol.

unless they've changed somethingin the last year or so, that is correct. all of the OMEs i've installed have required reuse of the top end hardware from the stock shocks.

Thanx man ....I love the tall skinnys, there taller then most 285's for more ground clearence and weigh a lot less .....they are extremely quite for an mt tire I've had them up to 110mph and were perfectly stable and have been great all around I lost about 1mpg with then so my gas milage loss was minimal... And they work well with stock 3.73 gears cause there weight and rolling resistance is much less then other 33in tires...

255, 265 and 285 refer to the width of the tire. The next number is the aspect ratio and that relates to height of the sidewall. So a 255/80r17 means the sidewall is 80% of the section width (255mm) so the second number tells you how tall the tire is, but that depends on the width of the tire and the diameter of the wheel. This might help as a guideline for comparing tire sizes http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=53

255/85/16 BFG KM2s are over 33" and work & look great on a 16"x7" wheel.

Yep I love mine too.. Maxxis bighorns in 255/85/16. I get the same gas mileage as my 265/70/17 duratracs. The 255s definitely throw off the speedo and odometer though.

This V. The number doesn't mean the height of it.

And that's the truck that made me decide to find some 1st gen alloy wheels :D

Can't link pics from my phone but if you look at the last page of my build thread there's a pic with the new tires.

And as an added bonus they don't rub the cab mount like 285s do.

I guess I started the cross-gen trend. First me then Zac808, then spiralout462 & now JLink. Who's next?

    Thanks for posting the pic!

Yea those wheels are nice. Can usually be found pretty cheap too.. I've seen them for $100 a set. I got mine with some worn out stock size tires but I ran them for a month when I had a lca issue which threw out my alignment bad enough that it would've killed my good tires.
