Just caught up with this story.

Very impressive to see the project coming along in spite of the sour start.

Been a little while since I updayed, but I haven't been able to get much work done recently. Had a trip to Kentucky that I had to get the DD ready for and been working my ass of since I got back:

Got home and got back to work on Basketcase:

MANY 4 a/2" flapper wheels later the rear 2/3 of the frame is pretty well cleaned and boxed. Still need to do a litle rewelding over my booger welds but it'll work. Boxed with 1/8" plate:

And the first new parts went in. New body mounts all around and a 1' Toytec body lift. Bolts are all in but not tight:

I did, thank you. If you get anymore let me know. I ordered the switchpro, but they have a few more things I'll need. Like that twin screw ARB compressor

I think I've figured out what I'm gonna do for pain. THe paint on my DD took a beating in Kentucky so I've been thinking bedliner.

LineX wants a fortune to do a whole vehilse and I don't particulatly like the texture. So I'm thinking this:
    http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f59/monstaliner-interiors-exteriors-1376308/

It's supposed to be a good DIY bedliner, available in colors that lays down smooth with a roller, or more texture with a gun. I'm thinking I'll spray my floor pans with it and the underside of the cab for some sound deadening since I don't plan to put carpet back in it. Then roll the body.

Color I'm looking at is: Sans Panties
    JF-9703745981_6a8ed79a41_h.jpg JF-photo-2.jpg SANS%20Ext%201.jpg

Its between OD and tan. I'll probably do the same thing I did with my DD and black out the roof, center of the hood and all the armor. Although I'm thinking a dark brown or charcoal greymight look pretty cool for those areas as well.

Anybody used Monstaliner before? I tried the spray on Raptor liner, and it seemed pretty good as well but it had a lot of texture

Nice pics. Mud is nasty! I'm glad I live in a state where it rarely rains, so there's no mud anywhere.

Just curious, and I'm sorry if I missed it on your thread, but why the 1" body lift?

I installed a 1" body lift out necessity a few years back. The guy that welded my rock sliders go them too close to the bottom of the cab - in spite of me specifying where I wanted them exactly. Oh well, As result of being close to the cab, the rock sliders would hit the cab continuously making this annoying noise on the highway. Well, it was actually the cab hitting the rock sliders as the body mounts deflected movement from the road :D Before that, I had no idea of how much those body mounts actually absorb movement.

I found that it would be easier and cheaper to install a 1" body lift than to cut and reweld the sliders and inch lower (especially since I got a deal on the 1" and it was super easy and fast to install). But I am very glad I installed the 1" body lift anyway because it turned out great for other things. Vehicle maintenance became easier in many areas such as removing the starter. The 1" also made the installation of the Atlas transfer case waaaaaay easier; as well as making it easier to work on the tranny. It's amazing how that inch of space between the body and the frame clears a lot of stuff.

Work is looking good on your truck.

I did my entire truck in monstaliner with a buddy. I bought a $20 spray gun from harbor freight. You just need to take off the clear coat. The stuff sticks to pretty much everything except bare metal. It works great dude. I've layed my truck on it's side at gulches and you can't really even tell. Only regret is I wish I wouldve bought an extra gallon to go over with 1 more coat.

btw from what we found.. It's smoother with a gun and rough with a roller. the roller sort of sticks to the paint and picks it up causing the texture. Mine turned out so good, another buddy saw it and decided to do his truck. He did just the sprayer and his is smoother than mine. I kinda like the texture. We sprayed mine.. rolled over the whole thing with the rollers to get even texture.. then sprayed another coat. Turned out awesome.

I've got a crawlbox waiting to go in which was the primary reason for the body lift. In addition it will allow me to lift the engine to clear the panhard bar and like you mentioned give more room to work in general. Also it gave me all new hardware to replace the rust junk I took out. Win all around

looking good Cap. Love the color choice too, she is going to be nasty. I see nothing wrong with those "booger welds" a grinder cant fix as long as the weld is good who cares.
