I agree. I am using osrams right now as I always have. I have experienced the bowl burning fun you have described in previous vehicles. I've done an array of retrofits in the last few years and the Morimoto D2S 5.0 hardware is superb in quality.

I do however do not like my bulbs being washed out with 55w. 6500k looks like a 5000k haha.

35w is more than ample for most users. After 10 years of retrofits I found I just prefer 55w.

Are you running CBB's? I'm running Nighbreaker Lasers, which are nice but I do wished they were a little more "white". They seem very warm, almost like a halogen. While I know the output is good and it is the optimum color for adverse conditions, I do prefer a whiter light.

I'm glad you know the risks! Many people do not and then complain after a year or more that their output isn't as good as it once was with 50w ballasts. Oddly enough I had a 50w ballast on my Victory (D2S 4.0 step trimmed down a bit and shield drop mod) and went to 35w. I noticed the cutoff was too strong with a 50w ballast and when leaning into a corner I was almost blind above the cutoff, dropping to the 35w ballast helped tremendously!

Yes I am, they are a step whiter than the nightbreaker. Nightbreaker almost seems like a halogen and the cbb is definitely whiter by a bit! I had to rotate my projector just a bit so that the cutoff line on the sides is turned downward to prevent the issue you are speaking of.

I think it was one of the connections to the driver that wasn't right or something, because the low beam was getting power but not the high. These MLEDs are awesome now! Thanks for all the advice!

Yeah the spare bulb thing would be nice. I have my Morimoto fogs aimed so they're almost as high as my low beams so if anything happened I can still drive carefully with just those. These have a 5 year warranty and are supposed to last 55,000 hours though so I trust them.

The grinding's pretty easy if you pay attention and don't grind too much off. Just buy aftermarket housings and keep your stock ones as backups like I did. Even with the super dark cutoff I don't find it an issue, since most windy and hilly roads I drive don't have much traffic at night. But then again, I live out in the country and not in a city so I don't have to worry about a lot of traffic anyways. The high beams are AWESOME at night!

Yeah, I definitely love the retros. And they look so good! But at the same time, if my truck wasn't my only vehicle I would probably save up for the Kings or maybe ADS, because the rebuilding wouldn't be such a big deal then and it would be really nice to have better ride quality off road.

Thanks again for your help, I appreciate it!
