I am looking at the projector housing and HID in the below link. I am trying to avoid the ebay housings because there are endless threads about them leaking. The site does not state what brand the housings are. Anyone have any opinions on this set up? Where can I get a set up with the same look but with quality products?

OEM headlights and a kit from www.theretrofitsource.com. Also, check them out in the vendor section on TW, they run deals for members. Search 'retrofit' and you'll come up with lots of threads on how to retrofit headlights using various projectors.

Those Depo housings aren't bad, I know quite a few members are running them. I wouldn't just throw a set of HID's in them though, you'll get a lot of light scatter since they aren't meant for HID's. If you want HID's, you should retrofit either your stock housings or those Depo housings with a set of projectors from the link I posted above.

My stock headlights are done. Tried multiple kits to clean the fog but its beyond repair. Where can I get OEM headlights?

Seems likek that set above has a housing that is already retrofitted for HID.

Those are no different than the cheap ones you can get off Ebay for 1/2 the price, they just come with an HID kit. The projectors that are installed in those headlights aren't very good either so the light output can be very disappointing. If you like the looks of those headlights, go for it, but I wouldn't expect any improvements in lighting.

Don't know of anyone who has this brand/type installed and I don't myself, so I can't comment on quality. Did a search on them in here and nothing came up either. Price point is lower than most built retros but from the picture they look like an actual retrofit. In my opinion, this pricepoint is where these should be, but generally go for $550 and up (as you guys know) already built.

What about the black oem euro lights on that site. Are they worth retro fitting?

All of those pre-made housings usually suck.

Let me see if I still have the pictures....

Eagle eyes I installed on a friends Impala that he got with HIDs for a little over $100. I saw this and I was like wow these might actually be halfway decent...

Then we backed up to leave the driveway and I started laughing. We were casting a batman call on the hill

The same night we installed his is the night I finished my retrofit. Now keep in mind these are just Mini H1s from Retrofit Source. They have even better projectors that outperform them.

Paying someone to retrofit the lights for you is significantly more expensive. You're paying a shop rate for someone's time and also for them to stand behind their product. If you're comfortable doing it yourself (it's not a bad process at all), it is by far the most cost effective solution.

If you're referring to the ones with angel eyes and projectors built in, it's not an easy retrofit process. Someone on here did it and made a thread for it. I think he titled it "Ebay headlight retrofit". He yanked the projector out of the light and replaced it with a better projector from TRS. He had to remake mounts for the projector to make everything fit together properly. The TRS kits are much simplier. The hardest part is taking your headlight apart because you have to bake them. After that, the projector installation and alignment is a breeze and is 100% reversible.

Check my build thread...too much to list.
I'd suggest searching Craigslist for a decent pair of OEM and then retrofitting those with HIDs. I think my retrofits are by far the most bang for buck mod. Light output is far superior than stock beams.

Low beam and high beam shots.

When I did them on my 2011 Focus I was afraid of messing up, messed up the first pair a little bit. Not bad I am just anal about them so I did a second set.Came out 99% perfect. I will do it on the tacoma some day!

Thanks for the replies. My hesitation for retrofitting is because I did the BHLM and that is what started my fog. Not sure if I baked it too long or what. Also even after bakin it, I still had issues pulling apart because the sealant was cooling. This makes me think I didnt heat it enough.

I just dont want to spend another $300 or so on OEM lights and then end up messing it up again. Perhaps I will give it another shot....

What did you seal it with? Use this..

Works amazing, heat it up with a gun for about 2 mins, pull it apart again and put a small bead in and reseal it. I've had a few lights apart after using this stuff. Comes apart so easy! But seals so good

Keep an eye out on craigslist, I saw a set of 2 OEM lights for $50 before i had a tacoma. I knew I should have bought them lol

The minis from the retrofit source broup buy are about $200. Do the install yourself and all you spent was the $200 for the kit. If your stock headlight lenses are too fogged up, I'd reccomend utilizing the stock housings but buying a new set just to use the lenses. That's what I did because my stock lenses could not be de-fogged. Once I did the retrofit and switched out lenses I made sure to put extra sealant around the edge of the housings to try and prevent any seepage. If you can, you should do it yourself. For 1, you'll save money on a better product. 2, you'll know that it was done correctly, by you!
