3 weeks ago I took my 2005 Tacoma into the shop for an excessive vibration...I thought it was tranny, drive shaft, rear end, or something of the sort related but could not pin point it. Shop replaced the (front u joint by transmission)...problem seems to be fixed.

Yesterday I get recall notice for (propeller shaft universal joints) from toyota.

Question - are these the same things? Appears I can make a claim and toyota might cover it if I already had the work done. Just not sure if these are completely 2 separate things...or just 2 separate names for the same part. Sorry to be so dumb..but appreciate the help! It wouldbe nice to get reimbursed $175 for the work...truck only has 166,077 miles

Yes it is the same thing. Propeller Shaft = Drive Shaft.
